philwalter 30 Report post Posted March 17, 2010 Beautiful Do these have the same V8 as the E39 540i ?
Guest Simon* Report post Posted March 17, 2010 Aaaaah such a shame to be parting with it already Boris! And I see you've taken that near-mint car and returned it to showroom condition, well done Priced fairly mate, good luck with the sale. Phil, they have the same 4 litre M60 V8 as the automatic E34 540's. E39 540's, post-'96 had a 4.4L V8 with a little more torque.
ssbmw 221 Report post Posted March 17, 2010 (edited) Good luck Boris- stunning car - and the photos are beautiful. Looking forward to seeing photos of the 535is again. No doubt that will look beautiful too. I wonder if the freak low mileage hell red 540is that is somewhere around NZ is as good as yours looks. Regards, SS E: Removed quoted pics etc Edited March 17, 2010 by Simon*
mr E34 11 Report post Posted March 17, 2010 (edited) Thank you! Have been asked by text the technical performance specs so will add this. BMW quote 0- 100km (62mph) 6.4 sec Youtube video 540is Vs the bruiser..E34 3.8ltr M5. Edit. There was also a rumour going around the halls of Garching that the M boys wanted the Alpina big block M62 (4619cc, 340ps/480nm) to drop in the last of the 540is or M5(M worked version of this engine) but this was overuled because it was considered too fast, E39 M5 was just around the cnr. I recall Wolfgang Reiztle also blitzed the M8 because he decided BMW didn't want to put their name to such a vehicle. philwalter 30 Report post Posted March 18, 2010 Is the camera in the 540 or the M5 in that YouTube clip ?
[email protected] 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2010 (edited) Is the camera in the 540 or the M5 in that YouTube clip ? Quite obvious its the 540i isn't it? 540i! Three reasons, the other car looks like an M5, is faster and the car the camera is in sounds like a V8.. Edited March 18, 2010 by Mike-E36

Not exactly the best place to take pictures though... on a tarmac foot path, on a corner of dirt.
