OBC light bulb replacement

Recommended Posts

Guest Simon*

IIRC there is a comprehensive guide to doing this, with step by step pictures on the forum somewhere. Do a search

Yea I found the guide than you sir. It’s actually not the way I removed my OBC and is a way complicated way of doing it, I did as they did above and it takes ten minutes to get out, I was just wondering if it the fiddly part of replacing the bulbs justified to save cost over a new unit. I will go through the pain of calling BMW to get a cost on the replacement panel…

When I say unit I mean the white piece the bulbs sit in not the whole OBC!

I found a DIY on eurocca...the australian euro forum. Brought some led's and resistors from d*ck smith, soldered it following the instructions etc, worked a treat. Cost no more than $5 and about 10 min of my time soldering.

I couldn't be stuffed farting around with a soldering iron and LEDs etc so I just bought a whole new unit from the States. Cost about $25USD.

does a 18 button 1 work with a car that has a 11 button installed?

Bravo did it recently too

He posted about it

Yep most exciting couple of hours of my life. I should start a blog.

Would have liked to have done LED's, but couldn't find the how-to so I just used regular 12v bulbs in parallel.

Wish I hadn't pulled the whole dash apart and done it the bimmerboard way! Would be slightly more fiddly on RHD, but would still work.

If by alien language you mean one other than english, you can change it fairly easily.
