pjay 8 Report post Posted March 27, 2010 (edited) As peters where hand delivered My lil sister messaged me the other day and said there was a strange man at the door with car parts and candy. I told her to take the car parts and leave the candy at all costs! I popped them up here as a teaser They will be in the car some weekend after the 4th. pjay 8 Report post Posted April 12, 2010 Rears are in. I think I'll remove the rear adjuster because it's at its lowest point and there's maybe 5mm difference in comparison to the Bilsteins but then again, they may settle a bit more. I'll attack the fronts tomorrow. Slaaaamburglars. Old shock Vs New: What the F**K has been chewing at my shock??? Comparison of Stock vs Bilstein vs VMAXX springs. zenetti 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2010 The rear adjuster is there for a reason. If you look at the spring compared to a normal one you wil see the diameter at the bottom is considerably larger. If you don't use teh adjuster the spring will not seat properly and slop around. Slopping around = bad things can happen.
pjay 8 Report post Posted April 12, 2010 I'll see how they settle, and then make an educated decision.
e38king 1 Report post Posted April 12, 2010 I'm sorry but I wouldn't say removing part of suspension set up that is designed for a purpose is making an educated decision
pjay 8 Report post Posted April 12, 2010 (edited) Yes agreed. The adjuster is there for the reason of adjusting the height, and I can see a few ways it can safely be removed. I am getting this certed once it's completed so we shall see. Anyway advice 101 guys: IF YOU OWN AN E36, REPLACE YOUR REAR SHOCK MOUNTS. They are poo's and need replacing if not done already. 2x Part: 1137971 sourced from Gavin @ Euro Italian. I shall head over there soon VERY reasonable price. Thanks for the advice also Glenn, you saved me about two box's of beer! Mrs is in the shower before she drives me up so heres a pic: Edited April 12, 2010 by Pjay

pjay 8 Report post Posted April 13, 2010 (edited) I think that sounds fair Glenn. And Huge thanks to Gavin @ Euro Italian! Such a top bloke, sorted the RSM's and some new bump stops also for unbeatable prices. Off to work in an hour, so will have to attack the fronts tomorrow. Slowly progressing for the Hamilton meet come Saturday. New RSM and bump stop vs old bump stops.. Ugh, yuck. e30ftw 410 Report post Posted April 13, 2010 Isn't that dust boot cover meant to go over the bumpstop not under it?
pjay 8 Report post Posted April 13, 2010 (edited) Isn't that dust boot cover meant to go over the bumpstop not under it? It is. It clips in about a third of the way down. Could be upside down, I just replaced it all as it came out. Is it upside down? The writing is the right way up.. Oh dear, I'm preparing myself for the lol now.
