Shaved bonnet.

Recommended Posts

I saw this photo of a e36 on google with a shaved bonnet and it inspired me to do it. so i looked around on trademe for a second hand bonnet. and only founf ones for around the 200 mark but then came across this ruggerd one for 50 bux. it had 2 dents and some alot of paint peal but aslong as it was structuraly sound i didnt care. went and bought the bonnet, and saved ten bux so got it for 40 bux which i thought wasnt to bad. i went to repco and bought some K&H KAHGLASS *reinforced body filler* and some regular filler with a can of primer.

Equipment:

-Sander - with different grained sandpaper

-primer

-reinforced body filler

-normal filler for finishing.

-K&H wax and grease remover

-sanding block

-Dry clothe.

god im stupid, i spent like 5 minutes comparing that first photo to other e36s and didnt even notice no badge

it seems to be working! :D it looks better but its not making it "gangsta" or stupid looking, keeping the european elegance :D

Hate to sound like a d*ck. But I'll give that bog 3 months before it falls out from opening and shutting your bonnet.

A for effort though, looks cool.

If done properly it should be all good. When my mates bogged up & painted my car, the bog in the badge hole fell out cos the idiots didnt sand it to bare metal - bogged ontop of paint - so had no chance to last.

Is it hard to change bonnets over? Also how much did all the supplies cost incl. electric sander? How often do you need to change the sanding part of it?

How much do you expect professional painting of bonnet to cost?
