Guest Simon* Report post Posted May 13, 2011 Here's another in Hellrot http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....ic=34116&hl - now owned by Alex of Hawkes Bay I have one, a couple have changed hands here on the forum and we estimate about 15 total in NZ. There's a thread somewhere by Stefan of Scandinavian origin about all the special 540 manuals. He has a breakdown of all the VIN numbers and colour schemes for all the NZ New cars

nath 134 Report post Posted May 16, 2011 the value is what you paid for it. +1: Market value, you are the market.
NZ300E 44 Report post Posted May 17, 2011 +1: Market value, you are the market. yes,but I do know that when he bought it the "market" didn't know it was a genuine and rare option msport, so he got for under market price.
kiwi535 538 Report post Posted May 17, 2011 yes,but I do know that when he bought it the "market" didn't know it was a genuine and rare option msport, so he got for under market price. The problem with this premise is that as the car is relatively rare sales are few and far between to set a market value.Depending on its condition and service history i would say its value is somewhere between 8 and 15.Only an absolute minter will get near the latter figure imho
ssbmw 220 Report post Posted May 17, 2011 Simon is right, a guy called Alex from Hawkes Bay bought a similar car in February. His car was a very straight example with complete dealership history and was a 94' with 230 kms on the engine. Completely original with Style 5's and body-kit, had the M-badge on the back (as delivered) but at some point one of the previous owners got over -enthusiastic and smacked M-badges on both sills and engine cover! I was shocked when I heard what he paid as he revealed it was a sub 10k deal!

In NZ and Australia they have a cult-following due to the rarity. NZ did not get the 6-speed 3.8 M5's so this car was a near-enough alternative. There are always people looking for one of these. I have the break-down of all the 540is's in NZ somewhere. When I find it I will add it to this thread. Apart from your car and the red one currently in the Hawkes Bay area, I know of another red with black example that was sale at Global Prestige in Auckland 5-6 years ago. It had done approximately 130 kms and it had style 5 wheels and was in stunning condition. Not sure where that car ended up... There is also according to Stephan (the Swedish expert on the 540 6 speeds) a ultra -low k 540is somewhere in NZ. As of 18 months ago this car had only done 17,000 kms. In a collection somewhere?
