Ahmedsinc 414 Report post Posted February 28, 2016 Ahmed, My guess is I have a date with a grinder and the guards, ...... would love to push for 18x10 wheels on the back.... more rubber, = wider track width. In my mind anyways. I'm not saying it's impossible to flare the guards sufficiently with gentle heat & a roller but I couldn't convince myself I'd gain enough clearance for the inner arch not to foul under compression. richard 384 Report post Posted March 1, 2016 thanks very much on the heads up Garett, Ran a tape over the springs got 140mm with( no adjustment parts installed). ( it says so on the side of the springs ) I've got e46 swing arms/ control arms that lower it by 30 -35 mm so in the ball park of what you suggest. On your 18x10's did you roll the guards. Garett 103 Report post Posted March 1, 2016 Yeah panel beated the crap out of them, if I did it again I would just stick to 9" rear and front and run a 265 all round or something like that. Once you go 10's your limited on what ya can run with out cutting and flaring. A 235 will happily fit on a 8 inch wheel, saving you all the bother of needless panel massaging. Yes, I get the whole aesthetics of big wheels for street cars - but I thought this was a track monster? Also, is it still vaguely legal to 'stretch' tyres these days? E30-323ti 66 Report post Posted March 2, 2016 If you trawl back on the Bimmerforums 'Track / Autocross' section you'll find a bunch of threads for running 265/35's on 18x10's for 'stock' fendered E36's (ie. rolled & pulled). EG alway having to get soft compound because your contact patch displaces too much weight and doesnt actually warm up the tire properly / get enough effective contact. richard 384 Report post Posted March 7, 2016 Ok, so after yesterdays cock up I dropped the sub frame and attached the upper control arms and reinstall the sub frame total time 30mins . richard 384 Report post Posted May 19, 2016 went out and got a pilot bearing puller today , pulled the bearing , changed the rear main seal, fitted the flywheel and clutch and pressure plate . 77lbs Going to run a standard clutch at the moment will look at up specing it later. Attach the gearbox tomorrow and move to the back of the garage out of the way.
