Surprises underneath it all!

Recommended Posts

So after thirsty thursday pub time i thought it would also be a good time to remove the manifold off the V8 to replace the pcv valve (cheers for the fast delivery Lance, top man), no the manifold doesn't need to come off to do this but i have my reasons, anyway i found this just chilling out in one of the ports:

Just a plastic trim clip, obviously not quite hot enough in there to melt it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't exhaust gas temp range around 200 - 600 odd degrees centigrade at the ports? How on earth did that not melt into plasticky goo and run into the cylinder?

Ha, you got me there, the air flow meter has a grate across it so it couldn't have sucked it up, by the looks of it, it's been apart before.

Whats the thread like material running off it?

Dunno, didn't see that when pulling it out, it was wedged in. Not even a genuine clip either....pffft!

Not sure what sort of plastic it is but the engine has coolish air runing through it all the time plus the coolish fuel getting sprayed directly onto it so it must have been enough to keep it in form.
