M5 wheels colour code

Recommended Posts

shadow chrome

shadow chrome or hyper black is a generic name for the type of finish, it is not actually a specific paint code.

If they are an aftermarket wheel (replica) it really depends on which factory they came from as the colours in the shadow chrome will be a slightly different blend from factory to factory.

It is just about impossible to match unfortunately and you will struggle to buy a can of paint off the shelf.

If they are genuine you may have more luck as BMW may have a paint code for them

I have a feeling, and I may be wrong, the original shadow chrome finish was made by an Italian company and that the components of it contained a lot of lead so now it is hard to come by as it it restricted by environmental controls.

Some people go to extreme lengths to get the original effect back - http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/show...ad.php?t=162503

As usual there is a lot of conflicting info out there as to how to best replicate the original effect.

Ha. Should have been a bit more specific. They are all pretty rooted so I'm gonna sand them back and paint them. Shadow chrome will do.

Cheers guys

Andrew and Gilmore. They are certified BMW paint and body shop in Christchurch. I am sure they will be able to paint your wheels in OEM colour.
