e38king 1 Report post Posted June 24, 2012 (edited) shadow chrome shadow chrome or hyper black is a generic name for the type of finish, it is not actually a specific paint code. If they are an aftermarket wheel (replica) it really depends on which factory they came from as the colours in the shadow chrome will be a slightly different blend from factory to factory. It is just about impossible to match unfortunately and you will struggle to buy a can of paint off the shelf. If they are genuine you may have more luck as BMW may have a paint code for them Edited June 24, 2012 by e38king
tmase 19 Report post Posted June 24, 2012 I have a feeling, and I may be wrong, the original shadow chrome finish was made by an Italian company and that the components of it contained a lot of lead so now it is hard to come by as it it restricted by environmental controls. Some people go to extreme lengths to get the original effect back - http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/show...ad.php?t=162503 As usual there is a lot of conflicting info out there as to how to best replicate the original effect. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showt...d.php?t=1449428
