Flash options for ipad

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, ive read various options on the internet which allow you to run flash on ipads. Has anyone succeeded watching/using flash content? Myth?

There seems to be a cost involved with these apps, I don’t want to pay for something which doesn’t work.

Cheers,

Niroy

I sort of just gave up with flash and iPad. I tried iSwifter but that browser seems like some sort of emulator and runs really slow and is glitchy. Other options i read about sounded very poor so I didn't try them. I very rarely come across flash now days so I just use my computer if something comes a long that i cant play on the iPad.

All porn is HTML 5 now though?

Skyfire is decent. Swifter works also, but they are both 'average' solutions to use only when desperate. I couldnt get frash to work.

I bought an iPad 3 months ago, and sold it last week purely because of this.

No flash is highly annoying!

iPads are useless... usually just for the close minded people who want to show off they are rich and have no idea in IT.

pretty much. i only brought mine because my house got broken into and my iPod and laptop both got stolen, and after having just brought my 5, insurance pay out didnt give enough funds to buy both. Now i have computer again, its only used in the car for music.

if the iPad ran OSX instead of iOS however, would be a completely different story

bad luck about the burglary. i agree OSX is indeed much more professional. I have always found IOS to look like a kids thing. Soon i'm buying an alienware :D

I got one as a gift and I think it's great. I don't have a laptop, I never needed one because my desktop was cheaper and more powerful than any laptop. But now I have an iPad I can sit in the warm lounge and browse the net and check the emails, it's just handy I guess.

I tried to watch tvnz on demand on my iPod and the misuses iPad and my smart tv but because they are in flash none of them play it and my god is it annoying!

I think it's abit dated and needs to be sorted. Even some YouTube vids are in flash so I can't watch :(

Sorted? Not likely... Steve Jobs had a passionate hatred (apparently) of Flash and wouldn't allow it to be used on any of the iOS devices (must have had his reasons). From what I have read his push was for HTML5 and I believe even Adobe have given up on Flash now.

Frustrating? Yep - I want to watch TV on demand on my Apple TV but can't do that either. Haven't had any problems with Youtube though.

There is something really weird with YouYube though. If I put in a same search terms in AppleTV, iPad and Mac, they will all come up with videos that matches the search term but list of videos clips are different.

There was a documentary I was watching on my Mac trying to show my wife, but for the life of me I can't find it through YouTube on AppleTV. I ended up having to stream my Mac Desktop onto an iPad then AirPlay mirroring onto the AppleTV.

With Flash, I think Adobe "ceased further development" and starting to adopt HTML5. I basically gave up trying to get Flash working on iPad. The closest I can get it to stream a Mac Desktop onto the iPad screen. That's a bit cheating, but it worked.

I find that flash sucks uber arse on my Macbook Pro, use to cause Safari to lock up constantly, and have High CPU Usage...

I have 8GB of ram too.. :S

the apple searches don't include the flash videos on youtube hence the difference, you can get round the appletv if you jailbreak it and install xbmc which is probably a must have anyway, lets you play any format video not just the apple approved or converted ones ,divx, mkv, xvid etc etc among a hugh range of features especially streaming from any pc or xbox or phone in the house live.

xbmc has plugins for the full youtube including flash

has plugins for tvnz on demand and tv3 on demand

cant do isky yet but things are underway as its constantly being worked on as a worldwide project, all for free

you can run xbmc on your ipad or iphone as well

the reason they didnt want flash on there is because adobe patch it at least once a month, flash 6 got up to point 31 and now flash 7 is up to 4 already, who would in there right mind want something as badly written, hackable and flakey as that on there machines, the question is more why do consumers let them dictate this crap on their pcs without ever questioning it,try managing a suite of desktops for an office or school and see how many times there are flash and java updates,

are ipads and iphones 99.9% virus free despite being owned and therefore targeted by millions,be thankfull for that, androids are now starting to have real permissions and virus problems and i suspect its going to get a lot worse

I'm a nerd, and I love my iPad. I hardly ever use my laptop anymore.

I was sceptical initially, but a desktop browser feels so antiquated after using apps like twitter, ebay, AlienBlue (reddit).

You can't beat it for couch based 'instant on' content consumption. (Also remote for airplay music and mirroring is great).

I'm no apple fanboy (Android and WP7 phone user) but iPad is fantastic.

Updated to latest version of Safari?

My iMac has 4GB and my Mac Mini has 2GB and they are both run Flash fine on Safari browsers

I guess your right, maybe i am just anti touchscreen?

I dont like the term Apple Fanboy but i guess i am. Yes i have an iPad, and yes i have an iPhone 4S. The the former i dont use and explained why i got it above, the iPhone i got not because i wanted apple, but because i wanted the capabilities of a smart phone but i HATE android. Win7Mob wasn't mainstream enough for me, and is Windows based which scares me.

I do however love Mac computers, i think they are the bee's knees. None of my Macs have ever crashed, and ive had everything from G4 Power Macs to Intel MacPro Desktops and Servers to the brand new iMac now. have never owned an Apple laptop personally though.

I sometimes repair them when they come in through work and they are very easy, despite what Windows techies will tell you. I think they say that because they refused to accept that the 'inferior' Mac is really a better technically designed product.

I look forward to getting home to them after battling the XP system at work and 7 at school. If there was consistencey i would be happy, but the OS changes not only with every new release but seemingly every update. Macs have been functionally the same since OS9, only the facelift with OS10.5 and the addition of new features, but, once introduced, things have stayed where they always have been only two clicks away instead of the start, all programs etc preformance.

i think i went off topic
