Palazzo 477 Report post Posted September 6, 2012 I'm looking around for something new as a family car. These have caught my eye, what obvious problems are there other than cooling system woes, budget to eliminate that problem? Trans? I know of at least one that was rebuilt for $7-8k at relatively low kms. That doesn't appeal, regular problem? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=508363363 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=508642577 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=508642861 I think this is well over priced for a 13/14 year old car even if it has low kms, thoughts? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=508642861 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=510367220 I can't find a single positive review for these anywhere, anyone? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=510987393 I won't bore you with the non BM stuff, look forward to comments. kiwi535 538 Report post Posted September 6, 2012 if you need a bigger car then a seven is tha way to go.The five series(e34 e39) is just not quite big enough, esp if you are tall. The 535 was more than ok for us but we only had one child.
liyi_92 37 Report post Posted September 7, 2012 I would go for the silver M-sport 540i personally
kulgan 1042 Report post Posted September 9, 2012 My choice would be the Silver 740i. Low Ks and great cars.. More than enough room for a family. But then I could be biased..lol
jeffbebe 1559 Report post Posted September 10, 2012 I reckon the 2002 silver FL E39 was the best deal... But so did someone else and it sold for $12K. Pretty good for a mint looking E39 with less than 100,000 kms on the clock. Motorsport bumpers look better though.
scott_e30 8 Report post Posted September 10, 2012 (edited) that 7 series Staggard 19" M Par's... Edited September 10, 2012 by scott_e30
jjs 64 Report post Posted September 10, 2012 (edited) Interesting blue leather on the 7... If it were my money I would hold out for a NZ fl 530i MSport. The V8 would be nice, but in the real world the silky 3.0 has plenty of grunt Edited September 10, 2012 by Crockett
Top Secret 2 Report post Posted September 10, 2012 Why PFL specifically? A red 540i motorsport went for 8k not long ago

Palazzo 477 Report post Posted September 10, 2012 I like the look of the 7, but compared with what's on the market, I think it's still a wee bit much for what it is. Not sure though. And the blue leather? I guess you can get used to anything. I can't see why a 740 should be more expensive than a 540 to maintain, anyone differ on this? Either would be more than big enough. And that 2002 540 looked like good value.
