I just got here in NZ last March and currently I am a student. Is there a way where i can have another spare key? Same with BM Workshop in Botany (cheaper). Smith & Smith or Novus would be cheaper than the dealer for window but non OEM.

Thanks.. do you have any idea how much it will cost for the replacement of the window? and another thing that bothers me is that, along with the key are my personal belongings which includes my wallet and i have my home address written in it. is there a way to reprogram the keys? luckily they didnt notice the spare key inside my bag. thanks! I am just new here in NZ and i really don't know what to do now, my mind is really puzzled. thanks a lot!
Allanw 1071 Report post Posted December 11, 2012 The other key can be disabled, your current key and the replacement you get can be the only enabled ones. They can still open the car by using the mechanical lock, although they may not know exactly how to do that.
Greg111 13 Report post Posted December 12, 2012 The Keys, barrels and depending on vehicle year CAS or EWS module, all from Germany. You might find your car gone otherwise.

*Glenn* 854 Report post Posted December 13, 2012 Then everything above. +1... or fix window, sell car, house etc and move out of town... maybe even migrate. If you leave bag, wallet and personal items where they can be seen your only looking for trouble. Locked in the hidden compartments in your boot is a better place but still not wise. A thief normally just does a smash and grab. They can't spend time at a crime scene.

Exactly that happened to me about 2 years ago! luckily i had already brought my new house so was moving anyways. decided it was a good excuse to change jobs too seeing as it happened in the work carpark. such a drama for only a 30GB iPod Classic and a wallet with no cash in it (wallet in glove box mind). that ipod was the bee's knees at the time though i suppose. vonn 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2012 Hi, Thanks for all your advice and help.. my bmw is now fix and i already got an insurance.. cheers!
deeveus 81 Report post Posted December 14, 2012 You're bloody insane not having it insured. Sad to hear that Glenn, down here we don't hear of these things happening, that job sounds like the perpetrator was organised, experienced. I leave my cars unlocked here on the road or in our driveway and certainly unlocked in the garage. A friend of mine had his letterboxed smashed over a few months ago in our area but that was the only thing I've heard of lol! On my old Holden Astra, keys could be disabled, I'm sure they can on an E90
Greg111 13 Report post Posted December 14, 2012 Yep you can disable the key but the thiefs still have the remote and hard key that lives in the remote, hense why the barrels need to be replaced, new keys and a new CAS system will require replacement. So quite a costly exercise because some degenerate knuckledragging piece of sh*t wanted something they didn't want to work for.
Greg111 13 Report post Posted December 14, 2012 You got it, we had to do this on an E70 last week, broke both L/H windows, stole the spare set of keys in the car, his work keys and his house keys, we had to order both windows, set of new keys along with a new CAS already coded to the new keys and two lock barrels.
