Andre3000 55 Report post Posted April 2, 2013 (edited) So my plastic fitting has cracked again, completely severed this time, and sent her shooting into the red zone. The last time this happened was under 20000kms ago. This is the sucker: Does anyone know where i can source an aluminium fitting. Not wanting to overheat my car repeatedly. edit: i should state this is for the m43 engine, top radiator hose. Michael. 2313 Report post Posted April 2, 2013 Super frustrating. I looked into this for an M50 years ago, they exist with some companies, either you will have to import them or just make one up locally with an engineer. Probably best to go with the latter with an M43
Lucan 196 Report post Posted April 2, 2013 (edited) I had this exact fitting break on the GF's old E36. Stupid place for a plastic fitting really. As Michael mentioned already a local engineer should be able to make one. Edited April 2, 2013 by Lucan

euroriffic 609 Report post Posted April 6, 2013 I got the alloy Thermostat housing for the 328i but if is a common thing to break on the m43 I should also look into an alloy one. Or your just doing the bolts and clamp up too tight causing more stress on it between heat cycles causing it to crack.
