Driftit 2068 Report post Posted December 9, 2013 It looks like he is trying to make his money back for all the items. But could be fun with some of the hard stuff already done. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/specialist-cars/competition-cars/auction-671261525.htm Though he does want $3700 for the gearbox. Something you can get from ebay to your door in NZ for less than 2K.

Ahmedsinc 414 Report post Posted December 9, 2013 Ive been keeping an eye on this for awhile for the touring. Just need to find a solution to find the sump that is cost effective I've been thinking about running dual pumps to get around the same problem. No idea if it's actually doable though. Have spoken in depth with the brother in law (also a toolmaker. handy!!) and he seems to think splitting the pump in half with a connecting shaft running from front to rear will work too. Again, whether this is achievable with the standard pump remains to be seen. However, worth looking into! Hell, if Alpina came up with a solution I'm positive kiwi ingenuity will achieve similar results

Michael. 2313 Report post Posted December 9, 2013 Seems like he was being over ambitious, should have taken the easy route with a cheap and cheerful 1UZ
Driftit 2068 Report post Posted December 10, 2013 I was going to do this as a E36 race car. Was just going to go dry sump. Around $4K to $5K for a race worthy set up. Thank god that car fell through though. One other car in the series lunched a number of M62's. They just can't handle the high revs.

Driftit 2068 Report post Posted December 18, 2013 TBH I have no idea. False rumours and misunderstandings between the two parties involved caused a bit of a fall out. I don't think the vehicle was completed.

kerry 10 Report post Posted December 18, 2013 there is nothing wrong with these engines, we run a m62 in the open class , obviously as a race engine you need to do some internal work but they are strong and they can hold revs all day long. in my eyes they are a great conversion. even at 10k its still not a bad deal considering what you get. Driftit 2068 Report post Posted December 18, 2013 Forged internals are a must. Todd and the CAG group cracked the pistons on two M62's. WIth the money spent rebuilding I would go for a S62 out of the US if I was going to go that way. But am sticking with the M30 Turbo these days.
