nath 130 Report post Posted May 20, 2014 Off- topic section due to marine application, A boat I am restoring has a short length of driveshaft automotive style with a UJ at each end. Flange to flange would be about 750mm with one end to a flange on a Velvet Drive output and the other to a flange on an inch diam shaft. On the aft UJ where the 2 flanges couple, it has corroded badly removing about 10mm of steel from the radius in one area. The while shaft has surface rust which I was going to have stripped before I found the damage. What is the most cost- effective process of me ending up with a good unit? Should I get someone like ADL to make me up a whole new shaft with UJs? or do I pillage a driveshaft from a car and get it shortened someone that does this? Help appreciated. I'm in Auckland. aja540i 1904 Report post Posted May 20, 2014 Probably best to see ADL, they should be able make and balance a new one, or modify something you take them and balance that up.
