Filth 5 Report post Posted June 6, 2015 Hi Guys, So this morning I turn my car on and a weird sound is coming from the engine. Never heard it before and she's not sounding healthy, engine light has come on - I checked the water and it was running quite low. Decided to top it up and I've discovered a crack in my radiator ( joy ) so that's no biggie but I'm quite concerned about this sound. Has anyone encountered this issue before? Is my engine bung?? Here is a short video on the issue: https://youtu.be/uveUX3B62CU
hybrid 1043 Report post Posted June 6, 2015 Do a new video and give it a little rev to say 2500, also rev and hold ... sounds like the DISA valve rattling .. but hard to tell from that short video ... Could be a bearing of some sort. Here is a video I did ages a go on replacing the DISA in a m54b30 on my old 330.

I think you could be bang on with this because over the past month I've notice the throttle not being as responsive as what it was. I'll post another video shortly. charles28 136 Report post Posted June 7, 2015 I suggest that you still remove the DISA and check it. You will need to scan the car to see what the error relates to, even a cheap tool like this works well. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OBD2-Creator-C110-V3-8-BMW-Trouble-Code-Reader-Diagnostic-ABS-Scan-Tool-/221267900788?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item3384983974 I've found it quite useful, as it soon adds up if you have to keep taking it somewhere to get it scanned. Your car (Same as mine) is at the age where little things will go wrong more often.

Allanw 1071 Report post Posted June 8, 2015 does it work with a windows 7 laptop? how about mac osx? does on Windows 7 You need an adapter for anything pre-OBD2, and I don't know what functionality it has. It does quite a bit on our E39.
