pommy 33 Report post Posted June 30, 2016 Hi all, I have'nt been on here for a very long time, mainly due to the fact I have'nt owned a BMW for a while.... However as some of you might remember I have long wanted a E36 M3. so Finally I have got one. It does require some work but cosmetic only! Mechanicallly (touch wood) it seems good for the klms. it has 230klms!!! but with a mortgage and now a baby... I could'nt afford a low mileage one, I usually don't like anything over 150klms so I took a gamble especially after it just having a ppi done @ a local bmw mechanics then when I got home the radiator decided to split! (thanks to Ray its now fixed) but its NZ new & will give me something to tinker with when I get the time! cheers Chris.
kulgan 1042 Report post Posted June 30, 2016 I must admit to having a bit of a thing for the E36 M3. Nice find. I'll be looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

zero 1162 Report post Posted July 1, 2016 Hopefully this isn't the one with the massive amount of faults/problems? What did the pre purchase inspection pick up?

pommy 33 Report post Posted July 1, 2016 Hopefully this isn't the one with the massive amount of faults/problems? What did the pre purchase inspection pick up? There isn't that many Black M3's around.... how recent was this? The report only showed cosmetics stuff requires looking at, ie: Drivers door handle sticking etc mechanically was ok for klms! zero 1162 Report post Posted July 1, 2016 There isn't that many Black M3's around.... how recent was this? The report only showed cosmetics stuff requires looking at, ie: Drivers door handle sticking etc mechanically was ok for klms! PPI was done in May. PPI only got half way through before it was aborted because of so many faults (clutch, abs, timing chain, vanos, all four rotors, radiator etc). Did the seller disclose these faults (especially as some are safety related), or get them repaired? Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

pommy 33 Report post Posted September 26, 2016 So... I have recently done the Gumboot rally in my M3. & it ran great & didn't let me down! I know the PPI's are worth getting however are only a guide/indication. I am aware of most faults but the clutch is good, rotors definitely need to be replaced. But all in all I am glad I purchased this car goes well! cheers.
