325_driver 422 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 Right, Now im not whining but i dropped off a text book at course, ran inside, expired meter, didnt even lock my car. Was 5 minutes at most only to come out with a parking fine on my car. Are they not supposed to mark your tyre and then come back, not just slap a fine on ? Is that a little harsh, i pay my parking fees, i respect authority, and the moment i dont pay 20 cents, for the shortest time ever i get a fine ? I mean 12 dollars aint a big deal of money, but one of those under your wipers is like a lepricon hiding in the bushes, as you walk past it jumps out and kicks you in the A@@ and runs off laughing in its hideous hyena chuckle. Wondering whether you guys have got any hideous stories you want to pour your heart and soul over. Cause im sure some people out there in bimmer sport feel harsh done by their LOCAL city council. Carl 3 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 (edited) Like traffic cops someone has to do it and like speeding if you get caught just shut the hell up and pay the fine - no one likes people that complain too much E: for the record my vote would be "I don't judge people because of their job" Edited March 2, 2006 by Carl
martyyn 2 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 They are just doing there job, dont be such an arse. When I got back to NZ I had no idea you didnt need to pay on public holidays and as I was looking at a meter a warden came over from across the street to point out it was free. Top bloke and very friendly....they are not all monsters.
cwh_27 0 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 (edited) Did you happen to be in town (Auckland CBD) when that happened? They are really tight over there (obviously they need to be), if you are even just sitting on yellow lines on the side of the road (ie, Wakefield Street) then if a warden is in the area they will practically start writing out a ticket right there and then (with you sitting in the car with it running) But yea, their job, no wardens = no parks. *E- Just realised your in Tauranga Edited March 2, 2006 by cwh_27
Grant 4 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 They are just doing their job, give them a break. It is a prick of a job, I would imagine, so I try not to give them a hard time. When I was in Hamilton, I get them all the time, however I didn't complain because it still worked out a whole lot cheaper than renting a carpark. Cheers Grant
Gus 5 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 it is their job...but why did they choose that job? to inflict misery. as bad as tow truck drivers, the scum
m325i 709 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 if they didnt do it, who wouldn't just camp in carparks in town? = no chance of getting a park ever. In hick towns i can understand anger, but in the CBD deal with the cost of bringing your car in. You could alway enrol at Massey
Jazzbass 1 Report post Posted March 2, 2006 I agree with Damian. I went to the bank yesterday for maybe 5 minutes. I slipped 20c into the meter. Damn sight easier and less stressful than a $20 fine.

Guest Spargo Report post Posted March 3, 2006 You can only buy an hour maximium in akl city, usually costing $4-6. Minimum of a dollar, sometimes 2. Been stung a few times on Wakefield st, used to park there overnight when I was going through a purple patch last year and played many away games at the Mount st apartments. Since parking needs to be paid for from 8, I had till 9am to be gone. Not often happening when i've only got back frokm work at 3am. They are scum of the earth. If you don't believe so, they are escorted by security guards after 7pm in town, when paid parking stops at 6pm. They go around all the loading zones and issue the biggest fines - its $200 to be parked in the loading zone. For example, one came past my bar at 1am, where we have a massive loading zone outside, good for 3 cars. There's $600 right there, money otherwise not have been made. SCUM. I cut my losses and bought a carpark in the chancery.

Guest Spargo Report post Posted March 3, 2006 its not what you know, its who you know. I'm paying alot less a week than my old man is in the same building, shall we say?
m325i 709 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 (edited) So you lease, not purchase? You should sublease it, and take your chances with the wardens. Edited March 3, 2006 by m325i
Deftones 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 I don't have time for wardens or towies. But then again, if you wanna take the risk then do it. Don't forget, if a towie is jacking your car up, and you turn up, you are legally allowed to jump in your car and drive off. Sometimes they may say $40 and you can have your car, but you are in your rights to not pay.
DCEIVN 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 i hate them. i saw a parking warden stand next to a car at uni once and wait for 5 whole minutes JUST so they could issue a ticket.
shadowninja 0 Report post Posted March 3, 2006 Like every walk of life, there are pricks & pariahs. Note in Wellington they are not city council employees, the city outsources it to ADT security. Unfortunately the wardens down in W-town work on quotas, so they are out there using every trick to get their numbers. They camp out around easy-to-ticket areas. It also doesn't help their case where a large chunk of them get investigated for fraud. Recently a whole bunch of the Wellington meter-people were suspended, but ADT still had to honour their contract to the city council, so had security guards out there ticketing cars. B*Emz 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 Hmmm whats a parking warden.... i dont think th bay of islands has them... bl**dy northland ahe, what with this free-for-all parking and what-not!
B*Emz 0 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 Hehehe it can also be proved that even if northland does have these so-called 'parking wardens,' they dont do much. An aquaintance of ours was away for the weekend and we had access to her car keys, so we thought it would be funny to test the patience of the 180 minute parking spaces outside her place. After two days the car was still there. No tickets in sight. And two days is quite a few 180 minutes.
