Primary tubing generally being oversized and gases flowing faster in the middle of tube and slower on outside was the reasoning. Im sure Engine Masters did it at one point and ended up with SFA difference. I'd hit that.
Jacko 2158 Report post Posted June 26, 2022 Im leaning towards giving the mount a trim, heaps of meat below the lip and it looks to clear the stud still. Also have a spare mount Should be able to reattach the heat shield with some panel beating.

GorGasm 563 Report post Posted June 27, 2022 Yeah I remember a TV show where they mangled the headers and dynoed the same or better. In the case of my E55 one of the pipes needed a bash to clear the steering column. Probably dropped from 500hp to 499hp or something. Thing was making like 800NM so I was far too busy managing traction to notice any power difference.
Jacko 2158 Report post Posted June 29, 2022 Few swipes with a file, will need a few more once I've beaten the heat shield into a new shape. 2
Jacko 2158 Report post Posted July 27, 2022 Quick shout out to FCPEuro, they arent always the cheapest (sometimes they are) but their service is nearly unbeatable. Back in December I ordered a new Mahle radiator for the 130i, for the impending engine swap (when I eventually get the time to do it!). I opened up the radiator box last month, found it had been bent in shipping. 6 months after I bought it and the damage had been done. Emailed FCPEuro and explained what had happened, they said sweet as sh*t happens - send it back and will sort it. I said, it's not going to be cheap to send a radiator from New Zealand to the US.. their response was sweet as we got the shipping costs. So I ordered a new Mahle radiator and they had stock issues, so got sent a brand new genuine BMW one. Legends. (Also finally got hold of a SMF Valeo clutch kit)
Jacko 2158 Report post Posted August 7, 2022 Took it for a blat up to Kai Iwi, via every fun looking B road I could find on google maps.... trying to clock up the magic 300,000km... (and coincidentally have had the 130i for 7 years this week, I dont see myself ever selling it ) Big stupid grin, in between the pot holes. Tyres are absolutely epic, its absurd how quickly can take corners, and the whole thing feels balanced and cohesive at the limit, from the power to the gear ratios, to the grip levels. Dead keen to try it on a track, be curious to see how the Bird B1 setup works, some say its a bit soft for track work, but damn does it work on NZ roads/goattracks.

The trailing arm ones in the hub are a bastard, for some reason the ali external clamshell is really soft (brake heat?) And likes to swag its ass all over the place. Peening it all back in and swearing solves it. All the bushes done though. Its downhill from here. Time for a beer. Epic stuff… considering the same upgrade on my 170k kms 130i…. Birds B1 Dynamic and Superpro Bushes… is the Rear SuperPro Vehicle Kit - KIT191RK and SuperPro Control And Radius Alloy Arm Kit - ALOY0090K cover all the bushes? I’ll get BMWorkshop to install as there is no way I have the skills !

HellBM has the tools I used to do it.
pranil 16 Report post Posted January 19, 2023 Sweet, sorry for the ignorance, learning on the fly here... so thats replacing the front, front control arm bushes with off centre (increased castor) spherical bushes aye?
Jacko 2158 Report post Posted January 19, 2023 nope rear hubs - 33326792553 - its the only bush that isnt replaced by the PU kits youve listed, it also seems to be the first one to sh*t itself https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=UF92-EUR-11-2005-E87-BMW-130i&diagId=33_1230

Jacko 2158 Report post Posted September 11, 2023 PDR done by Anton at http://www.mobilecarspecialists.com/ did a really good job, took out everything... I'm picky as sh*t and covered it in little bits of tape (including some dents that were microns deep) and he found and fixed even more.
Jacko 2158 Report post Posted June 29 Smashed some B roads today in the eastern BOP, its so easy to forget how f**king good these cars are. Ive done 50,000km in the Skoda to 2000km in the 130. 130 is hands down a better car to drive hard, its in a different league. Skoda is a better car to sit in traffic with. 4
Jacko 2158 Report post Posted August 30 Auckland to Havelock north and back in a day. My ass appreciated the Recaros, was actually not bad for 11 hours sitting on it. Saw a white E87 with ACS ducktail and black wheels in Taupo, wouldve been a cool pic
