santa 3 Report post Posted December 2, 2018 Hi I have been looking at a 2005 118i with 146km on the clock (NZ new). How noisy are the injectors? there is a definite clicking noise. Was not to worried about this until read about the cam chain issues. What would the warning signs of a failing cam chain tensioner/guides. Thanks
Gaz 1061 Report post Posted December 3, 2018 Chains are more of rattle than a click per say. Remove the oil filler cap you maybe able to see broken chain guides but depends on where and how bad they are broken

KwS 2425 Report post Posted December 4, 2018 The only thing leakier than a VW (and they are shockers) at work is anything with the N4x series engine.
santa 3 Report post Posted December 8, 2018 Thanks, I'im well used to leaky vehicles having had landrovers. I thought they were being very environmentally friendly returning the oil to the ground where it came from,

They'll make anything British look reliable.

Teeth on both cam sprockets severely worn. To add salt to the wound, Benz want $4.5k for parts to repair!
