Lachssilber 1989 E30 M325i

Got a proper Italian tune up today alongside some superior machinery - after so many km, still enjoys a bit of rough housing!

All cleaned up again and ready for an E30 Coffee meet tomorrow morning @BMTHUG @Tobias01

Been a while since I updated here - car has been great, getting used less these days, becoming a little bit more of a garage queen but still getting enough work.

Was out today with a group of interesting cars - (Elise 111r / E30 M3 S54 / E92 M3 / B7 RS4 / E30 M42 Supercharged / 306 XSi) for a really good blast for 3-4 hours - car was a champ, the M20 still just loves to rev but she does get a little wallowey when pushing on - H&R sports are too cushy but perfect 95% of the time.

The Elise had 330whp - sufficient for 850 odd kg.

Making the most of this incredible run of Auckland weather - got up early (for me) Saturday to do the classic but great run from the City to the  Pohutakawa Coast > Kawakwa Bay / Kaiaua - a good 4+ hour in the saddle allowing time for exploring / photoshoots / more photoshoots 🤣

Zero car issues, aside from a few old rattles on coarse chip open road speeds - nothing opening the windows won't fix.

Another perfect Saturday, another early morning drive.

This time went over the Awhitu Peninsula - through Waiuku to Karioitahi beach, then up and accross to Grahams Beach / Big Bay and Glenbrook.

Stunning area, especially with the morning low fog today. Roads not as good as last weekend (from City to Waiuku is pretty boring) but once there its beautiful.

To do list:

Need to replace my drivers window seal - 51321904782 (bloody expensive) and sort my drivers seatbelt reciever before the next WOF.

Also have a rattle from the exhaust that I'm hoping is just a hanger / mounting issue.

Got my WOF.

Continuing to work on the interior parts so it is mostly mint when I get seats and door cards reupholstered.

Today I refinished my parcel tray in charcoal, added rear headrests (butchered some other seats for parts) and changed my huge ugly 6x9s that needed 20mm spacers for some sleek 5x7s that look much more OEM and cover the awkwardly sized premium speaker holes.

Huge difference - looks so much more premium - but very tricky to photograph due to rear window reflections - here is how much sun fade has occurred over 35 years.

Will do my carpets in the same dark grey soon.

@Sammo what did you use the dye the rear parcel shelf? Have mine out currently and badly needs the same treatment.

Think it was just dupli-color vinyl and fabric paint - not 100% on colour, although think it was this one.

Just be careful to not get it on too thick as it will get a bit stiff.

My old Muffler has been rattling and getting tinnier and hollower for quite a many months now and appears to be a bust baffle in the muffler.

Ordered a custom AdrenalinR muffler (great experience) and will be getting a new twin section made from the resonators back.

Cant wait to get the old girl a fresh new soundtrack and replace the ridiculous 3.5” Remus square tips with something modest but purposeful 🤔

New muffler went on today and new rear twin section added from resonators back - looks much better and tips far more OEM (dual 2.5").

Did seem a bit loud on way back from the shop but I'll give it a few weeks to bed in / get used to it - its definately a deeper and less raspy tone which is good.

Sadly however, most likely car will be being sold in spring.

In the process of a seperation and highly likely a more modern all-rounder type BMW (M235i?) and will be replacing it in the future.

Do the factory hangers still hold onto the new muffler? Looking at options for mine.

Not sure if mine are factory as it previously had a Remus muffler - fabricator appears to have repurposed them and welded to new muffler though?
