Yeah definitely a lot easier than dropping it in from the top, particularly when the gearbox is attached. The car is so light I actually lifted it up by hand, but then used the crane as I obviously needed my hands to roll the engine under. Was pretty easy considering it was a 1 man job on a Saturday afternoon. The revshift mounts lined up perfectly too so really didn’t take long at all. Neil McCauley 482 Report post Posted August 10 Engine through the bottom is for sure the best way for E30's, especially with fresh paint and gearbox attached.

Considered getting one for my E30 until I could get OEM for it. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-radio-frame-64111368515 Expensive for what it is though. Must be some cheaper after market ones out there. Hmmm. Able to buy genuine factory part off the shelf for a car that's been out of production for 35 years. USD35. Pretty good value IMHO, given many other manufacturers aren't supplying much for their cars after 15-odd years. IMHO, of course.

Olaf 3426 Report post Posted August 10 (edited) Project's looking good, man. Must be very satisfying to get it firmly into the reassembly phase. Wow, a 320i with drum rear? Edited August 10 by Olaf

Yes definitely getting into the more enjoyable part now. Yeah I was surprised too, must be because it’s quite an early model being a 1985.
