WTB: E30 manual 320 or 325

Recommended Posts

Hey team,

Looking to buy a manual 320 or 325 - not too concerned whether pfl or fl / sedan or coupe.

Preferably with a WOF and rego and no rust (or very very minimal rust).

From Auckland, but happy to travel around the country for the right one.

Thanks heaps

Having been in the same boat not long ago, unless you’re spending big $ on a mint garage kept example they all have rust, it’s just a matter of how hard you’re willing to look. Only way to get a truely rust free one is to strip it all back and start fresh from there.

This one is pretty rough, and appears to have been dicked with a bit, judging by the springs in the boot, and it's a repo!

An SE is always nice. There seems to be a lot of manual SE models. Dad had a 325i SE manual for 18 years.

Plus a 320i is a waste of time as an auto. slowest and hungriest of them all.

Hey @ash-89

Whats your budget? I’m based in Auckland and looking at selling my 325i Sedan

Does have aftermarket suspension (Certed) with Current Wof and Rego.

Let me know if you’re interested

Thanks,

P

Quick bump on this. I unfortunately missed out on the M325i on Webbs. Massive regret now haha.

But it made me want to narrow my search to a Tech II now if there's anybody here willing to let go of theirs :)

What did that go for? Thought it didn’t sell?

Never mind. $32,390 including buyers premium, with mismatched upholstery and what looks like the wrong gear stick.

Haha yeah, I checked it out yesterday.

On top of what you mentioned, some other things that I found that made me hesitate for that price:

1. Check engine was on

2. Rust on one of the jack points

3. Oil stains seeping through the engine cover (which I think is the valve cover gasket)

Was gonna come back today with an OBD scanner haha, but got told it had sold.

So my hunt continues haha

Thats most peculiar, it received no bids on the Sunday and passed in at $19k, the opening bid from the auctioneer.

The BMW 2002 sold for a strongish  $41.5 the 1071 Mini Cooper at $20k, The E Type pulled  $160, Alpina roadster $21k and the Rover $50 plus the Ferrari 456 made $90k all before the buyers premium of 15%, so 6 cars on the day.

Surprisingly all the motorbike were marked as sold, some for strong money too

It wasn't actually a check engine light - it's the "check" light, for the warnings on the ceiling console. It flashes until you press the brake, or stays on if there is a bulb warning, coolant warning etc.

OBD scanners don't work on them either - the later ones have the pacman connector that does a few more things, but most of the useful stuff it can do, can be done with a short piece of wire, or a paperclip 🤣
