cainchapman 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2007 OK, this is a mild rant. Having just had the car into Coombes Johnson in the Mount for a warrant. They decided to change the number plate surrounds to theirs. What the F*ck! As the car doesn't reside down there, why? So, they changed the wipers, fitted an exhaust mount and adjusted the fog lights. Does that give them a claim to it? McMillans were no better, the first service, they did exactly the same. I was more than happy with the Blackwoods surround that the car came with. Plus slapping stickers over the high level brake light (why, surely that is unsafe). OK, I think I'm done. nath 134 Report post Posted January 12, 2007 Yeah ive gotta say the guys at the mount are pretty f**king useless by reputation, and gave us sh*t all help a few months back when we were looking for a brand new bmw, of which they had the perfect model in stock. Take it to jerry's, i have no end of good things to say about them- and yes it is because i worked there- so i know that they are genuinely nice! Take it to jerry's, i have no end of good things to say about them- and yes it is because i worked there- so i know that they are genuinely nice! Sorry mate, I would have to disagree about Jerry's, i went there 18 months ago to have euro plates place on a car and had no idea how to mount the surrounds, they left the ends of my plates hang out and looked hideous .. I had taken a 540 to have the xenons looked at and broke the pins on the corner indicators when they were removed, they tried t tell me that the plates need to be bolted on instead of fitting it on with surrounds and waited 3 months after a complaint to have them replaced, i trusted them to fit Angel Eyes to a Z3 and broke the Halo rings .....and the list goes on. Ive been with Team Mcmillan and have no problem ever since

cainchapman 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2007 I'm not complaining about their work. I was very happy with Team McMillans as a service provider. And Deb said that the Service Manager at Coombes Johnson was very helpful and they looked after her. I am pissed off about the fact that they modify my car as it suits them, without consulting me. If I did things like this to my customers, they'd look elsewhere. And quite rightly.

BMW POWER 2 Report post Posted January 12, 2007 They have absolutely NO right to change the plate surrounds to theirs. They only time we ever change plate surrounds is when the ones with our name on it are wearing out, or when another dealerships one are wearing out but we ask permission first. Go in an rev them up Cain! Absolutely do not tolerate that sort of carry on. Thats why Cooke Howlison BMW rocks, aye Paul

E30stz 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 (edited) Dont get this caught up with teh team @ Hamilton Coombes, they are fantastic and we've never had this problem or any problems for that matter with them, and have been servicing with them for over half a decade. Go stick some bimmersport stickers on their front door and tell them you were just returning the favour. Edited January 13, 2007 by E30stz

kerrynzl 3 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 This sort of sh*t happens all the time with car dealers [most people don't notice] The Guy's at Coombes in Tga are supporters of the new BMW race series Send Barry some Bimmersport stickers for their race cars [blackmail them into using them, because of what happened to your number plate surrounds] A win/win situation
cainchapman 0 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 Yes, if you can find a specialist for them. I was happily taking the car to Dean at Motorscience after Glenn left McMillans. However, Dean has now gone to the "darkside". An E30 is also a lot easier to find someone to work on. They have next to no electronics in them. In CHC, I'd take it to DCH Motorsport. But then again, that won't surprise you now will it. I'll give BMWorkshop in East Tamaki a go. At least Ross has a 540, so it's a start.

greenday-rulz21 6 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 Took the 540 into Jerry Clayton a while ago and they noticed that the tyre was put on the wrong way around at Beaurepairs (Don't ask me how they managed to screw that up) so they fixed it and when we got home noticed a huge scratch 3/4 around the rim - not kidding at all. was so pissed off. Took it back the next day and complained, ofcourse they fixed it - don't want to ruin their reputation. but also a long time customer so they happily did it. Bad service though, things like that shouldn't happen.
nath 134 Report post Posted January 13, 2007 Yes and dealer f**kups do happen, a mechanic wrote off an m coupe once on a corner, so i think that counts as well.... the wheel thing was the tyre shops fault and must have just been looked past back at JC- could have been done at shore performance (who are f**king AMAZING, they machined new locator rings for my 17's for free and the rest) or Beaurepaires- but only KK sends cars to Beau'. Sometimes cusomers keys would be lost for a day and they couldnt take their car home! But general opinion is that JC is way better than Team's
