BMW Dealers

OK, this is a mild rant.

Having just had the car into Coombes Johnson in the Mount for a warrant. They decided to change the number plate surrounds to theirs. What the F*ck! As the car doesn't reside down there, why? So, they changed the wipers, fitted an exhaust mount and adjusted the fog lights. Does that give them a claim to it?

McMillans were no better, the first service, they did exactly the same. I was more than happy with the Blackwoods surround that the car came with. Plus slapping stickers over the high level brake light (why, surely that is unsafe).

OK, I think I'm done.

Yeah ive gotta say the guys at the mount are pretty f**king useless by reputation, and gave us sh*t all help a few months back when we were looking for a brand new bmw, of which they had the perfect model in stock.

Take it to jerry's, i have no end of good things to say about them- and yes it is because i worked there- so i know that they are genuinely nice!

Sorry mate, I would have to disagree about Jerry's, i went there 18 months ago to have euro plates place on a car and had no idea how to mount the surrounds, they left the ends of my plates hang out and looked hideous .. I had taken a 540 to have the xenons looked at and broke the pins on the corner indicators when they were removed, they tried t tell me that the plates need to be bolted on instead of fitting it on with surrounds and waited 3 months after a complaint to have them replaced, i trusted them to fit Angel Eyes to a Z3 and broke the Halo rings .....and the list goes on. Ive been with Team Mcmillan and have no problem ever since

I'm not complaining about their work. I was very happy with Team McMillans as a service provider. And Deb said that the Service Manager at Coombes Johnson was very helpful and they looked after her.

I am pissed off about the fact that they modify my car as it suits them, without consulting me.

If I did things like this to my customers, they'd look elsewhere. And quite rightly.

They have absolutely NO right to change the plate surrounds to theirs.

They only time we ever change plate surrounds is when the ones with our name on it are wearing out, or when another dealerships one are wearing out but we ask permission first.

Go in an rev them up Cain! Absolutely do not tolerate that sort of carry on.

Thats why Cooke Howlison BMW rocks, aye Paul ;)

He races the white 320 with the motorsport stripes on it. Too bad the rest of his team is not up to the same standard he is.

Since we are talking about dealers, Shelly BMW has been bought by Jeff Gray. So here's to looking forward for a better relationship with the only BMW dealer in town (fingers crossed).

TM looks after my ride, no surround plates or stickers on mine.

Just found it to be a bit excessive to tell me that my front wheel bearing are caked at $70.

Other than that, its been sweet.

Wow, We would never even think of changeing the plate frames or stickers on a customers car with out their permisson

I think it is well worth a phone call to the dealership if they do this to you

Dont get this caught up with teh team @ Hamilton Coombes, they are fantastic and we've never had this problem or any problems for that matter with them, and have been servicing with them for over half a decade.

Go stick some bimmersport stickers on their front door and tell them you were just returning the favour.

uhh dont take it to a dealer.... take it to a decent bmw mechanic .... for e30s thats by far the best thing to do anyway, i think unless you find a dealer who likes an e30... i have not had any good experiences with dealers, and to make it worse a person who worked somewhere id never go back to now works at my local dealer too!! even worse!! i take mine when it has to to GAC as the guy builds e30 race cars so knows his stuff, and is reasonable.

IMO

Will buy parts from them though. My bitch for this evening

This sort of sh*t happens all the time with car dealers [most people don't notice]

The Guy's at Coombes in Tga are supporters of the new BMW race series

Send Barry some Bimmersport stickers for their race cars [blackmail them into using them, because of what happened to your number plate surrounds]

A win/win situation

Yes, if you can find a specialist for them. I was happily taking the car to Dean at Motorscience after Glenn left McMillans. However, Dean has now gone to the "darkside".

An E30 is also a lot easier to find someone to work on. They have next to no electronics in them. In CHC, I'd take it to DCH Motorsport. But then again, that won't surprise you now will it.

I'll give BMWorkshop in East Tamaki a go. At least Ross has a 540, so it's a start.

Took the 540 into Jerry Clayton a while ago and they noticed that the tyre was put on the wrong way around at Beaurepairs (Don't ask me how they managed to screw that up) so they fixed it and when we got home noticed a huge scratch 3/4 around the rim - not kidding at all. was so pissed off. Took it back the next day and complained, ofcourse they fixed it - don't want to ruin their reputation. but also a long time customer so they happily did it. Bad service though, things like that shouldn't happen.

Yes and dealer f**kups do happen, a mechanic wrote off an m coupe once on a corner, so i think that counts as well....

the wheel thing was the tyre shops fault and must have just been looked past back at JC- could have been done at shore performance (who are f**king AMAZING, they machined new locator rings for my 17's for free and the rest) or Beaurepaires- but only KK sends cars to Beau'.

Sometimes cusomers keys would be lost for a day and they couldnt take their car home! But general opinion is that JC is way better than Team's
