Some of y'all will know, others will have seen, but our recent trip to the South Island was to collect a car for Mrs M. A mid-1990 ex-South Africa Baur 325i. We'd had it checked over by a friend in Dunedin and while certainly not perfect, it was substantially a good car, so we flew down and were met at a very sunny Dunedin Airport by the seller. My chance to drive and check over, find a few more things that need sorting, pay some money and start our trip towards home. First stop - Oamaru. On the way up I noticed a quite pronounced shake through the steering wheel, and Beaurepairs in Oamaru found one wheel was 50g (!) out of balance. That'll do it. They also noticed that while we had a matching set of tyres in terms of manufacturer and model, the fronts were a different profile to the rears. While in Oamaru I checked the toolkit: There's something you don't see every day. From Oamaru to Lake Brunner via some scenic roads: And an overnight stop at Moana. Awesome place to stop. Not cheap, but great hospitality, location, food, wine... Aldamere Lodge. After that, it all gets to be a bit of a blur. Lake Brunner to east of Picton via Greymouth, stopping in Greymouth to replace the front tyres with some that were the correct size. Made a noticeable difference. North up the coast towards Westport, stopping at Pancake Rocks, then across south of Nelson to Waikawa Bay where we stayed at the Buccaneer Lodge. Cheap, cheerful, and would go back. Nice scenery for dinner, too. The following day we had a quick tour 'round some wineries and got the boat to Wellington where we stayed with friends, before joining Andy and the southern convoy heading for Taupo and the E30 Megameet.

$9,000 Obo Due to unforeseen circumstances, I am having to sell something I was going to keep for ever.. Its a New Zealand new, 1996 BMW 328I SE Motorsport Factory Manual in DaytonaViolett Metallic with Black leather interior originally sold by Shelly BMW. I have just replaced the following in the past couple of weeks: - Brand new genuine BMW water pump - Brand new genuine BMW thermostat - Brand new Battery as of today The kilometers read at low 147,000kms and the condition reflects this, all the common door card failures etc are not found in the interior of this vehicle and the leather is near perfect. It has 4 basically brand new tyres all round, the engine, gearbox and clutch make it drive smoother than a gravy sandwich. It will come with spare Fog lights, Clear indicators, bulbs and BMW car care kits. As you would expect its not entirely perfect and has the following minor imperfections: - Hood lining down quoted approx $100 from local upholster) - Fuel sender line needs to be re soldered so it doesn't read empty - Two or three very minor areas of clear coat peel If more photos or details are needed don't hesitate to pm me, price is somewhat negotiable but getting harder to find such clean examples in these specs.

So I decided to enter into 4's and Rotors down in Timaru... that meant that I really needed to respray my front bumper to get rid of stone chips along with a few other bits and pieces. While I was at it I couldn't deal with having a sagging headlining any more! My dad gave me a hand and we wrapped the whole thing in some nice faux suede for that alcantara look! I still have the black sun visors to put in, however I will never ever do another sunroof headlining! The sunroof was in and out about 6 times to get it working correctly with the sunshade pulling back correctly! This was all followed by a good cut and polish! The missus even lent a hand to help with the wheels! After cleaning everything and giving it a good cut and polish here are some glamour shots from after 4's and Rotors in Timaru!

I'm not sure about posting on a public forum if you don't want comments? But anyway, GLWS, it is a unique plate and I look forward to the TM auction.

Thanks man! Yeah my brain wasnt too engaged at the time I shot it and I didnt think of stopping the lens down more! I ended up photoshopping out the boot badge as my one is a bit messy and I couldnt manage to tidy it up so it was easier to just remove it Yeah the polymer paint sealant worked really well! Alltho I tried some Valet Pro and Gyeon products before the show and shine and I will be definitly getting some of that! The Valet Pro Black to the Future is amazing on trims and tires! At this stage the supercharger build has been called off, its still sitting in my garage but I have kinda given up on fitting it. The costs for actually doing it propperly with a link or megasquirt and then brackets etc I may as well save and put an S54 in... but then again the car is more than fast enough for what I use it for so maybe I might replace my daily Ti with a 335....

thanks Glen, its the small things that take the most time, the fitting and refitting to check that it fits and looks right . down to the last cut and measure on most things now..

Changed the fuel filter on Mrs M's car. What a PITA! You can see it, but you can't reach it. It's under the brake fluid reservoir, and the PS reservoir. From underneath, there's only room for one hand, making it difficult to undo Jubilee clips. Having backed off all the clips, and slid them out of the way, then comes the remove the hoses challenge. Top one came off because I could get one hand to the filter, hold the hose and push the filter with two fingers. (It is a one-handed exercise because of space.) The bottom connection is another matter as it's more difficult to get a grip on anything. Having fiddled things around, I was able to work the filter out of the bottom of the car (at which point petrol is pouring out of the filter). Get hold of the hose and "Come on!" "No!" "Come on!" "No!" "Come ON!" "No!" "COME ON!" "NO!... Oh, all right. Have a face full of petrol. " <sigh> Unusually, it's easier to put everything back together than to take apart.

$100 wouldn't be enough for a pixel repair, $200-300 would be more relative for an electronics tech to sort such. Disassembly, reassembly, parts, time to do the fix and testing would take at least a few hours if you're doing it properly

Yes, it is all related to your post count. When you hit certain numbers you will go up a gear "automatically" - does that make it an auto gearbox..??

I changed to second gear at 100. I didn't even have to push the clutch in.

Yes such a model does exist, was a South African build for the SA market during the days of apartheid restrictions. They were able to do some very cool sh*t with their models. Added quite a few "go faster" bits to the M Tech II 325i to come up with a fantastic little car, not many built either and have become quite collectable now. Definately a very nice car, and in very good condition from the photos, but that price is well up there, into E30 M3 money. I know which one I would buy and which one will probably increase in value the most.

Flushed the coolant on the Mercedes 190E... Then found I have a electrical 'leak' somewhere as the otherwise brand new Bosch battery was as flat as a very flat thing. No idea at the moment if a light was left on, or if it is a bad earth somewhere. Let this be a lesson to everyone. Use your cars - don't leave them int he garage getting dusty!

Let me see... Changed engine oil and filter on car 1. Removed LED tail lights and replaced with stock 10W bulbs - fixes 'Check' 'Brake Lights' issue. Fixed high level brake light. Replaced fuel filter to see if it sorts sluggish acceleration - not tested yet, but all sorts of yuck came out of the filter. Changed engine oil and filter on car 2. Fixed ABS / Speed sensor issue on same car. (Actually - I'm not sure how I fixed this. It was there, I jacked it up, and now it's gone. ) Changed engine oil and filter on car 3. Tomorrow I see if Repco in Hamilton still have an oil disposal bin...

Okay so the wing took quite a bit more to fit up then I originally anticipated. The paint will need redone at some stage too, however I am stoked with how it looks, and the height of it means I dont loose any rear visibility! Excuse the filth! The car was pretty dirty from the roadtrip to Queenstown and back with nowhere to clean it properly along the way! Also I made more poor life decisions this week and ended up buying an SC14 supercharger.... Thoughts at the moment are to bottom mount it where my air conditioning compressor was and then run a small front mount intercooler. I will get under the car this weekend to have a proper look and see where I can make it fit nicely! This bit of the project however will take quite a while as I know it will cost a lot to implement and I kinda need to start saving a little bit of money! Keep your eyes peeled for more to come... I will try get some better photos of the wing and might do a little breakdown of how it was all fitted up and trimmed if people want to know more!

Today after work I decided to check the water hoses on the engine and look for way to hook up the expansion tank. The hose from the back of the head was the first to come off and to my surprise found this inside, have no idea how it got there. Then gave the rest the squeeze test had a fail so have decided to replace the lot.
