Looking good Brent!!

With having those nice hi-comp pistons & lumpy sticks are you going to run out of breath through the stock airbox/AFM??

Also given the S38's had airboxes quite a bit bigger and MAF's...

Are you going to be running on the stock ecu (& AFM) etc...

yes that had crossed my mind , i will look into maybe updating the intake system at some stage .

i have already had the stock ecu remapped with the std engine , but will be doing it again when i have it up and running.

will see how it proforms .

i use a k&n type filter with plenty of fresh air coming in around the head light etc like in the picture below.

i might look picking up a e34 m5 intake system and maybe e34 m5 ecu & maf etc or some after market maf/map system etc.

or maybe a nice 6 trumpet set open set up

ITS ALIVE!!!!!!

got up and running today , seems to be ok , a bit of a resonating rattle just above idle but disapears at higher rpm , sounds a bit like timming chain or something , so need to do a bit more investigating , but other than that seems to be ok , pulls quite nice , but havn't ringed it out yet as its a new engine .

now just get a new wof and some reg etc .

fit the road wheels and drive it around a bit

a quick update , car is all go .

got a new 3.2L m3 chain tensioner in , sort of changed the engine noise up the rev range so

ended up modifying a old cam chain tensioner with bolt etc , so now its adjustable .

car goes well , will clock up a few k's in it first then off to get the ecu remapped ,

dyno run today . with the ecu being remaped by gavin at high velocity

need to do a bit of work on the intake and exhaust system to let a few more pony's out .

a good increase of torque and fairly good across the rev range of power.

but its a little restricted up at the topend should keep going past 180rwKw or so

previous dyno time with the old worn engine.

Quite a gain throughout the revs.

How different are the schricks vs standard in lift and duration?

Looking forward to seeing what you do to the intake and exhaust

will get the factory plenium chamber modifed to except 4" intake pipe etc

this is a millar maf replecment unit for the standard old barn door flap type afm .

which is a bit restrictive and old school way of measuring air flow

details here

http://millerperformancecars.com/index.php...t&Itemid=30

can also get them for m30 and m20 engines

I heard these units are really good, would Gavin be able to reprogramme your current computer to use these MAF's to its full potential? Im looking at one for my next project.

yes gavin will be doing the remap etc.

it comes with a chip to go into the ecu , but i dont think i need to use it??

have already had the ecu remapped with the old afm setup

will be interesting to see how it goes.

Gavin did mine, took what he needed from the new chip and built a new one for mine, got around 10 rwhp improvement, took the M30 3.5 to 209 rwhp.

mounted the maf unit up today

modified the wiring to the afm , fitted the miler maf ecu chip.

starts and runs , makes big sucky sound now.

off the gavins in the morning to tune it up.

ok , took the car in today for a remap after fitting the miller maf unit .

came up to 182rwkw ,10rwkw over previous time with a std afm unit.

had a few issues with pinging , due to we think low fuel flow (old worn fuel pump??)

and wrong fuel pressure reg fitted 2.5bar instead of 3bar etc.

also need to do a few other things and checks.

like get the injectors cleaned serviced or replaced etc.

get rid of the inline fuel dampers , check intank pump filter , check/replace fuel filter etc.

fit a wire mesh in front of the maf unit to straighten out the air flow.

then back for a proper tune.
