Epic night for photos! Pretty happy where we're at with M TOY now - it's been a fun couple of years saving & changing out the parts I wanted to, and I've learnt heaps along the way. Whilst many of the changes I've made are quite subtle, they add up to quite a different car than when I bought it. I'll continue to chip away replacing parts when and where I can, so this is by no means the end of the road. In fact, it's quite far from it. Edit: And one of Adeeb's photos from the last meet, for those who didn't spot it. MTOY, Adeeb's e39 & JT's topless wonder at Sylvia Park.

Love that colour, those 7's look awesome on large dia hartge alpina type 19 spoke rims, with a schnitzer kit. IMO. An old boss of mine drove me from the tron to vegas once in a 750i and he was a maniac. After the Hinuera turnoff I couldn't watch and spent the rest of the trip looking out the passenger window whispering "make it stop". Got to drive it home tho' - didn't seem that quick off the line but effortless torque and acceleration over 100kms and was pretty agile for a big car. The running and servicing costs were eye watering back in 1995.

That looks really good at that height Brent, just knocks out that 4x4 wheel gap without ruining the practicality.

I took my e39 to the ChCh Fibrenew franchise. They had it overnight, and for $400 did the seats for me. My car is NZ new and had a lot of wear in the back as well as the front so an ex family car. Upholstery is a light grey, looks fantastic now. Why do it yourself at that price ??

Nice. Have a look on youtube re: cleaning leather. There's a yank chap based in Japan who posted a vid cleaning lexus leather seats with some impressive results. I've also had good results with Lux soap flakes, and patience.

'tis true - too much time spent looking at the speedo and not enough at the road. There was a Rentokill sign-written soft-roader on SH1 this morning who narrowly managed to miss the wire barriers on a number of occasions. Heading south through TK, there have been at least 3 cases in as many weeks where people lost concentration (or whatever) and have taken the wire ropes out. Road sense and awareness is far more relevant than obsessively sticking to a speed limit. Unfortunately while you can teach people what number they are allowed, you can't help them learn to actually drive properly.

Lots of Hyundai vans parked at the side of the road with those pesky cameras in already, maybe a few cars to go on the fleet as well? Nice and cheap, so tax payers won't moan (too much). Police will never use BMW cars because of all the bad publicity it would cause, even if the cars were practically given away (like the Govt Limos) the papers would still have a field day! That said the road cops do love their BMW motorbikes...

I was under the impression noise filters are introduced to compensate for crappy HU earthing? Have seen them on installs before but never as part of the manufacturers loom. Bang the new unit in, if it hums then set up the filter
