Found an article in the local rag a quick google came up with these. http://www.bmw.co.nz/com/en/newvehicles/i/i3/2013/introduction.html?gclid=CNumoaOx9b4CFcIJvAodEoMA-w http://www.wheels.ca/car-reviews/bmw-i3-electric-2014-bmw-i3-drives-for-sustainability/ http://www.bmw.com/com/en/newvehicles/i/i3/2013/showroom/index.html?noredir=1

Too big in my opinion. I park next to a 2013 3 series at work. It is only slightly smaller than my E60. It makes the E92 and E36's that park nearby look small. Parking my E30 next to it is a real laugh. Twice the damn size.

Oh OK. I was about to question whether you were stepping into the realms of OCD madness. I guess if you're only air-drying the car to eliminate the need to touch it that's all cool... LOL!

Same old story. Good car but high maintanence. Scares off most buyers so drops price. First of model means more issues. Nothing to different from a s class.

I like hydraulic fans. on racecar or high performance car i would go electric just so i can leave it running with engine off to stop engine bay temps spiking.

haha yep, well if anyone needs a private jet interior or happens to own a commercial airline and needs a new interior, then I can hook you up that, or any repairs to commercial aircraft (jet) in new zealand ... lol.

you can pick up an e30 bmw for quite cheap nowadays .. would be a nice daily car during your studies here. The next meet is this coming weekend at Kyus cafe in Penrose. http://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/49568-auckland-monthly-coffee-and-cars-meet/ Depending where you stay, you may be able to get a ride from someone who is passing close to you on the way to the meet .. The culture here is a bit more mature than some other car clubs in NZ. Granted that usually the purchase price of BMWs and European cars are higher than Japanese cars, and also maintenance costs are higher as well means that the general level of maturity is a little higher than your average import car club. Most/all of us really love our machines, and keep them legal and tastefully modified. Many of the members are older than your average 'young boy racers' and own great new machines, new M3s, M5s, 335s, restored e30s etc. This is all a generalisation though! We've had some silly things done on some of our meets but we're trying!

Not sure its worth buying an e34 for the parts, you're only after the sump, oil pickup and throttle cable. Considered doing an m52 instead?

What was the point of this topic really...

Yeah I was always drawn to the singular round headlights and the "squareness" of the BMW body shape, lost after the e34, maybe the e38 is borderline-ish. I waited and waited till the right one came up for me to pounce on. I practically stole it at $2500, but right now these e34's are the time to buy. Right on the cusp of all being trashed and disappearing from the roads as they get older and handed on, passed in. There's still some gems around if you've $3K-ish in your pocket for one. It's a hell of a lot of car for the same cost as a Toyota Corolla.
