I will admit I used to watch Top Gear, sure it was a load of bollocks and factually all over the place but they had fun in cool cars, they were funny, did stuff we would all like to do and the Stig lapping the track actually gave you some reference points. Well I now think the best Car media, and I use media as TV is no longer the sole option, is Motor Trend on Demand. Now for those that dont want to pay for the monthly fee you can just wait a month or so and it will be on You Tube but I have decided to pay the cash as I am not the most patient person in the world. Anyhow, what I like about it is that the presenters are pretty well informed, obviously they have some driving talent and they have a bit of BMW content on there. In the last year or so they had M4, M2 E30 Touring, M4 competition pack and M4 GTS. They have also had a run down of the M3 from E30 forward and some really interesting head to head match ups. Jason Camissa is the BMW guy and has an E30 touring that their test driver Randy Pobst lapped Willow Springs nearly as fast as a new 340i. There was also the infamous M4 vs Camaro shootout and the M4 vs M2 comparison. The latest head to Head involved the M3 comp pack vs the AlfA Guilia vs the Cadillac ATSv and the Merc AMG C63. Very interesting, on a track the ATSv the M4 and the Guilia all were within a second or less of each other. The ATSv was proclaimed as having the best Chassis but the Alfa was the pick. The M3 comp pack was reported as being a lot better than the original M3 and fixed most of the problems that plagued the non comp pack car. As a car guy I really like the show and there is quite a bit of other content including Roadkill which appeals to my DIY roots. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D87tO7VUs2I&list=PLA97180860447EE6A&index=10

Merry Christmas to me... After 2 visits to view car, I made the offer and it is mine... a 3rd trip on the buses and trains to Auckland to drive it south.. I'm essentially the 3rd private owner, last owner 10 years, with a pile of receipts... So far it's had a damn good clean (wasn't even vacuumed), 2 oils leaks fixed (filler cap and sump drain plug), the lights sanded and polished, the interior mirror glass replaced, and more parts on the way... and more and more cleaning and detailing.... Drives good... mostly everything works... but got a big list of things to do.... wheels, emblems, windscreen trim, fan clutch, filters etc etc.

Can't get Rego without Wof. Seems like the wrong way round to me, but thats how it's done. I'm sure he'll be all over it once he gets his WoF though! Also congrats Elijah, not a WoF yet, but pretty much is!

great news! amidst all the important jobs you have on the go, do make sure you have rego (part of WoF check, I think), and your Insurance sorted. Your parental units will be very pleased to see one of your driveway sculptures mobile, and proud of you for seeing this through and getting it mobile.

and we'd be suffering, driving this car. with that fooking handle on the boot. The team that sold it to you were telling you it was bangin'. Your mates liked it. But you thought it was pants.

The offshoot to this of course is that a crash is more likely in the first place since a passing manouvre involves putting the R/H/S into oncoming traffic before a clear coast ahead can be confirmed.

I'd wish you luck, but you've been working on it so long surely it's perfect?

RHD is rarer than LHD for a good reason, they were never built in the factory like that (except possibly the two RHD test cars for Japan) all the RHD conversions were carried out outside of the factory. As such and RHD cars are considered as "non-original" and hence lose a proportion of their value. maybe not such an issue in RHD markets like NZ, but certainly not a reason for a higher price over LHD and definately not an investment car.

Engine and trans removed from the 7 We have swapped out the diff, axles and sway bar for ones from a 328 couple

I hung a radiator off the front of the 7 series and armed with the scan tool I used a mates dyno to see how many sensors and modules I could remove and still have the engine and trans function correctly.
