This is my new front setup for the 335i. The Pads are Stoptech Street Performance (Now called Sport Brake Pads) The rotors are RDA slotted and dimpled rotors (348mm) with a Black Passivated finish to reduce rusting and it means they dont come coated in oil. The Stoptechs are rated for Street use and light track day use. Reviews seem positive but they are dust makers so I will have to wash regularly.

So it took a little longer, but oh so satisfying, right? Well done mate. Took me 6 months to address a cooling system issue with my Volvo whilst it sat on side of road when I lost my mojo. Cost more as the brake rotors rusted and battery died beyond reviving. Keep on keeping on!

After many small issues, not the least of which was a shorn bolt on the housing... The longest oil filter housing gasket replacement in history if finished. In all, I managed to snap the ring connector on my alternator, shear one bolt and drop a reservoir full of power steering fluid on my driveway (and all over my engine bay!) Replaced power steering hoses, reservoir, and oil filter housing gasket and sensors. Only took 2ish weeks.

I was wrong. I went and looked again and they have removed that paid service from their site, since 2011. Thank you for this. I've opted out now.

So a couple of weeks ago I was approached by a media company asking if Rusta could be used in an Ad for a fairly big beer company supporting the English Lions tour coming up. This morning was filming for this, I'll upload the videa once it's completed and ready

Got some time in the garage in the last week, as well as this weekend, so managed to place the engine and gearbox back in the car, assembled as much as I needed for the crucial first start. Manual shifter looks right at home Spent most of today figuring out why it's not cranking. I had initially planned to keep the auto ECU in place for the first start to ensure engine runs, and then swap to the manual ECU, replace the EWS box, ignition barrel and locks. Unfortunately, it was a no go. I couldn't be bothered bypassing the auto park/neutral switch, so just went ahead and switched over to the manual ECU, plugged in the ignition chip receiver with key, and then realised that the donor car had EWS II while the compact has EWS 3D. A little googling later, found a wiring diagram and switched all the EWS wires over to the right terminals in the plug, spliced some together, slightly cut the plug to fit and cranked again. This time - success! Sort of. Car was cranking but not starting. I could smell fuel so I pulled a plug wire and checked for spark - got spark. Ran over the basics in my head, checked all the plugs on the engine, and had a eureka moment when I thought that maybe my supply/return fuel hoses are backwards. Switched them over (got a nice splash of fuel in my mouth, mmmm...) and voila! Car runs, sounds very nice without the exhaust lol. Neighbours might not appreciate, so I didn't keep it running for too long. Can't stop grinning, the worst is over. All that's left is to actually put the car back together, replace the leaking clutch slave (couldn't get one on Saturday) and I may be able to take it for a drive before next weekend! Then I can finally start thinking about the fun stuff...

yesterday I gave the 855-T5 a total vacuum and womble, emptying it all out. took the space-saver spare to the gas station and put 60psi in. shampood the mats, gave the rear cargo area a good clean. today I did the Colourlock leather treatment (3 stage refresh kit) on the leather seats. Leather Cleaner, Leather Fresh (Toner), Leather Shield (Nano-Protectant)... and I added a fourth step, a finishing wipe with a little Elephant Leather Preservative. As a result they're looking very smart. (I must do a clean and protect on the e60, it's looking good though will really look alive with this stuff). All that remains to ready it for sale is to clean the glass, clean the dashboard and plastics, protect the plastics, wash the exterior, and dress the black exterior trim. Then take some beauty shots, and it'll be on the market. It's looking pretty damned sharp for a 20 year old super-wagon, if I say so myself.

If it's registered personally your name is already withheld by default for the carjam style searches as the other's have mentioned; if you want to prevent easy access to your name and address for the 1000s of people who have access to the NZTA database through work (insurance company reps, car dealers etc.) you can do it here online: https://transact.nzta.govt.nz/transactions/personalinfoaccess/entry There's a link included which explains the situations in which your info is released.

Which report do I buy from Carjam that provides ownership name and address details? When I've purchased Carjam reports the private owner info is redacted, "individual owner, xxxxx km as of date, Personal details protected by law". Full details for any company owners are provided.

Glenn knows his sh*t. An m40 is kinda crap so if you're doing the work anyway go to a quad value dohc engine (m42/m44). Obviously this is all just internet waffle so you don't have to do anything anyone says :-) M42

Can't remember last time I turned the radio on bro haha. The film is metallised so I doubt it helps reception, but I'm not much of a radio listener so it doesn't worry me. Here's a shot from the side today in different light MtoyTints3 by Christian Taylor, on Flickr
