Tidy looking T2 spotted. I also saw what looked like a 135i - ‘CRBN’ that looked like it meant business. By the look of it, I could tell that there was something mean under the hood. Quite unlike all the E90’s you see with stickers, DTM’s, and M badges. Wouldn’t be surprised if it was a member’s car.

Hi @Arsony, I purchased a 2016 330e MSport LCI last year and it’s been reasonably trouble free apart from the Auxillary battery crapped itself - $500ish later for a new one and labour / fitting. As stated above the fuel door is ‘sticky’ and my one seems like someone has tried to force it open in the past. I was told when getting a PPI done by the local BMW dealership that getting the main EV battery tested would require a week of their time to ‘stress’ test it. You can’t get a battery health check like you can with a Leaf apparently. Also note any mechanical warranty won’t cover the main EV battery, if that goes you are on your own unless it’s still under warranty? Our charged electric range is 22kmish in Winter, 28-30km in Summer. Averaged 6 liters /100kms on a 800km road trip over Summer.

EKP v2 cooler arrived and installed, its kinda plug n play, not pricey and a worthwhile mod with a larger pump Inside, no heatsinks, you can see its been getting hot, resin has browned a bit heatsinks mounted on New cover with fan back in its home Not a BMW photo but looking good as a family car tonight, now its cold itll be time to see/get the dragy times, the TCU tune feels really aggressive with solid larger turbo spool sounds. 0-100 still in 3.1 zone on a warm day on NZ roads, winter and wider front PS4S and semis on the back should/could improve a little, running 255/30/19 fronts with 235/35/19 rear, off square as per RS3 option. Slides around nicely now Spoke with Dan at Torque about Maxx ECU race purchase, Ill get the n54 adapter from pnpecu directly. Be gone BMW ECU, be gone!

I’ll drag this up. Got two 275/40/20 Michelin PS4s for $464 fitted and balanced. About $160 cheaper per tyre, only stock Bridgestone, Michelin and BF Goodrich.

@Arsony short answers: 1. Very, I got around 45km range from a charge which was enough to get to work and back for two days. Also good economy on longer runs with petrol plus electric regeneration. 2. Boot space is a little reduced due to batteries under the floor. Other generic F30 issues could still apply. I’ve not heard of any specific HV electric issues. 3. LCI was in late 2015 which would be the major update, so 16&17 models would have that. There were continual updates (three times per year) to all models but relatively minor. 4. Yes definately, 99% of NZ new were M-Sport for a good reason. More equipment, better looking, etc. 5. Not sure how much experience of this model the independents would have. If it’s just general servicing they would be all good, anything connected to the HV electrical side could be tricky.

Got the roof bow welded in which is a milestone task ... got very specific with the prep on the car body since this will be buried and generally speaking the weld through primer blows. Prepared the exposed side of the bow for welding ... will epoxy coat all of the welds and surrounding area. All done pending 1st inspection, then will do the epoxy and I'm free to mount the roof itself (after sanding the clear coat flat and applying a few more coats, then ... probably sanding it again and polishing)

Changed the title of this thread to be more reflective of what goes on in the shed... Been a bit busy with life etc, attended the Holden Nationals with a mates car I've been helping restore, then a brief visit to Australia, followed up by a BMW Car Club South Island road trip in the M5 which was just fantastic, cruising down and up the country with @hunter and 20 or so other owners. The 740 msport has been the focus otherwise. Bought a large chunk of a 735i msport part out with the same interior, and set about swapping out seats, parcel shelf, under dash trim etc etc to significantly lift the interior (sold the now second full msport interior seats / doorcards for a massive $1.50 on the open market...), replacement steering wheel I had in stock, wiring loom tidy. Also decided to replace the 4 shocks with genuine BMW msport like for like. It was the larger jar of vaseline... Also have done some suspension arms, ball joints, engine mounts, sway bar links and bushes, tie rods, brakes tidy up. A wider insert for the boot to accommodate the "BMW711" plates which have just gone on. The radio was playing up so I scored another C23 Oceania module which a member in our e39 M5 group was offloading. All sorted now and a bluetooth module is on the way to replace the CD changer. Ripped out all the old Nav gear as well. A bit of paint work went on before it got too cold, mirrors, top of passengers door. Next summer there will be more to come... But up next is the rear main seal oil leak fix, which means transmission out. There will be a bit of other "while you are in there" preventive stuff like driveshaft bits and cleaning. Not to forget a few engine gaskets and fluid changes. A power steer hose was leaking so a home fix was enacted saving a few hundred dollars for a new pipe/hose. Still lots to do but coming along nicely....
