    Hi team. I'm regretting that I'm considering this, but I'm thinking of parting ways with my 1971 2002 project. I've had this for almost 8 years. Had big plans to run this as a street legal track car, but financially my situation has changed. Rego is dead, but I do have the original plates. Here's what's included: All panels and trim Fibreglass rear bumper New repair panel for the lower front nose section E21 323i rear trailing arms (for rear brake caliper conversion) Volvo 240 front brake calipers (for vented disks conversion) I have a M20B25 with an 885 head and all the parts to convert it to a 2.8ltr stroker. This includes a M52B28 2.8ltr crank from a 328i, 130mm conrods from a M20B20, clutch, flywheel, M20B25 pistons and 885 head as well as a 5 speed Getrag 245. Also have engine mounts to mount this to the standard 2002 subframe. Included are a set of Minilite style BMW wheels and a set of gold steel wheels (not pictured). Here's what's left to do: Sills have rust holes on both sides, front and back. Assemble engine Finish e21 rear trailing arms to suit coilovers Panel work on the main body Here's how it looked when I picked it up. Here's how it looks now. Ideally I would like $20,000 for everything. Not keen to sell items individually. Please PM me if your genuinely interested.

    Spent some time doing basic audio crossover points and relative loudness settings by ear on the F80's audio system. Hardest area seems to be tuning the understeat woofers for to get them to blend with sub and door midbass. Focal door speakers need running in so will run it for 20 hours of so and then tune with calibrated mic. WIll be interesting t see the difference between tuning by ear verse mic. Hopefully I'm not far off.

    It’s alive!!! Fired up straight away, but with a dead no.4 cylinder. got the rear wheels on and went for a spin round the yard and seems to drive alright. After “machining” down a socket to fit down the spark plug well, it didn’t appear to be getting any fuel, so suspect a dodgey injector. Will track one of those down and swap that over and see what happens and get a scanner onto it to see what else is going on.

    Timing chains were an issue on the earlier N47s but.a redesign post 2009 improved them a lot. There was another design change in 2012, and the twin-scroll version used in this F31 is said to be improved further (no doubt as a result of the failures of the previous versions). While timing chain faliures are the most common issue with a N47, they are not very common issue, and you would be unlucky to get one so long as regular maintenance has been kept up. The difficulty with this particular car being a new import is to find the service history - if it has a service booklet with regular services in it thats good, or check the service section of the idrive. If it's not had a good service history then it becomes a more difficult decision.

    Best to get an N47 powered car that’s had the timing chain job done already.

    Yeah, typical. They've also got an "ICONIC M CAR - 6-SPEED MANUAL - CLEAN UNMODIFIED" M3 that was clearly SMG from factory. That, with the swirled up paintjob and horrifically scratched up interior plastics can be yours today at a bargain price of $55k. As an added bonus, the factory strut bar has also gone off for a wander somewhere, because weight reduction.
