Finally finished the Mrs car. Upgraded the grill and painted the left side as it had bad clear coat peel. The liquid yellow is the exact same paint code as the e36 M3 Dakar yellow. Makes me love it even more now. Also did the rocker cover gasket, front crankshaft pulley (vibration damper) and crank seal. So all the engine oil seals have been done and now it is completely leak free. Was pleasantly surprised with how clean the inside of the motor was. Also painted the strut brace as it was looking tatty. Lot's of hours into this now. Replaced the faded GTS Logos too. Now I just have to put the door handle on and put the door card back on and it's good to go

Going to look at this on Saturday, intention to buy - hopefully somewhat healthy and can pick up for a good price. Carjam says they’ve had it for 5 years, but under the presumption of no service history I’m debating whether: I take the punt if it seems to check out ok and nothing too funny -fluids/noises etc… then scan it back in Auckland. Or get the peace of mind, try and get my mate who knows how to use the scanner down in another car. Keen on the idea of taking the punt but probably not the smartest option…

Shows how big cars have got over time, current 3 Series v 90s 3 series. Same when I park my old 3 Series next to the wife’s 1 series! Same with all cars though, not just BMW!

Picked up my 1972 E9 Coupe from the paint shop this weekend. It looks amazing in Aplina Grun 2. Jamie and the crew at Automotive vision in Nelson knocked it out the park. The car is so straight it is amazing. I wouldn't go anywhere else now. So the now hard work for me starts again, wish me luck!

Well I haven't had many updates the last couple of months - it's mostly been a case of hurry up and wait on parts deliveries, I've now received most of the parts I ordered back in June both for the rear shock mount brace install, as well as the OE parts needed for the CSL airbox install (just waiting on the factory to do a run of CSL dipstick tubes). A few weeks ago I also ordered a set of A/B/C pillar trims. I had been planning to go down the route of covering with BM-3109, but then discovered that the plastic mounting points on my current trims are damaged, and that I was therefore going to have to fork out for a new set. I ordered those a few weeks ago and looks as though they should arrive at the end of the year or so. Last Friday I also dropped off the RSM brace to Arkro Powercoating (excellent - highly recommend) in Porana Rd , and yesterday it was ready to be picked up. I opted for matte black, as it matches the OE powder coat finish on items like the front strut bar, etc. My goal with this install is to make it look as OE as possible.

I had just gotten out of my Touring when this guy pulls up next to me in his convertible. The conversation went: Him: "I like your car." Me: "I like your car too."
