That car is owned by a member on here. "Kento", he's a nice bloke, has many very nice BMW's.

I love my Goodyear Eagle F1's, I feel so confident cornering in them (that could just be my super awesome E30 suspension though), even in the wet but in saying that before them I only ever ran GT-Radials Champiros, so huge difference.
Yeah, brilliant tyre for the money..........trouble is now they are made in China.(Mine German made.)

You sound like a very brave man.
Don't drive anywhere without changing the oil and checking all other fluids.
Jeff Gray's or Page Euro should be able to give the car a good once over and tell you if there are any issues the need rectifying.
Good advice here............What else can i sell you?

Wow, hahaha, maybe one day it will be worth that again.
That's a lot of money to spend in the 80'
Waiting a while, my first E34 525i in 1989 was $85,000.(thats why they call me Mr E34)

Hey Graham( Apex), been a few E30 Touring conversions in the UK with the 6 cyl M3 engine. Saw one for sale on Pistonheads for 6000 pounds, complete rebuild including brakes etc, cost a small fortune to build, if you know someone over there get them to bring it back under the exemptions.......just a thought.
Have you seen the complete M3 engine/box/pedals/ etc on tradeyou?? 8 odd grand.
-
Are you sure you looked at the SEPT issue?

When do you think the beast will be finished? Is it going to be pay to view like sky telly?
-
You wont get the B10 Bi-turbo for 25k Penry.
-
Yeah I agree - E28 M5 for under $25k very optimistic unless its a POS. Finding one would be even harder, haha.
E28 B10 Alpina not based on M5.

Well not wanting to appear a maths geek...
... but an 18% **loss** would see you dividing the 214hp by either 0.82 (for 18%) or 0.75 (for 25%).
In which case 25% would be spot on for Brent's cars.
I just took the pwr figure & added + 20% on the calculator, your way is prob more accurate, it still doesn't stack up though.....to say you have 25% loss on a manual 214hp car isn't right......say you measure 300hp @ wheels, divide by .75 gives 400hp@ flywheel, take same car with 250hp@ wheels divide by .75=333hp@ flywheel, 400hp car looses 100hp drivetrain, 333 hp car looses 83hp drivetrain.

Rather have yours Wayne, wins hands down. This is the one of the 4 or maybe 6 M3's to come into NZ from new. This one is a EVO2 and as the number plate mentions the build number of that car.
The car has just had a full bare metal respray.

both my e28 with m5 engine and e36 3L m3 do about 160kw at gavins place . also similer results with e34 540i .
all rated at the factoy with 286 hp at the fly wheel
That shows how the factory figures are the best possible, those pwr figures don't come close Brent..........................160kw x 1.34 =214 hp + 18% (manual)=252hp or + 25%= 267 hp or +30% =278 hp, the losses are nowhere near that so the factory figures are theoretical when you select the best possible blueprinted new engine.
E46 M3...250hp @ wheels, where did the other 90+ HP go??
-
$25k mmmmmmm........maybe Alpina E30 C2 2.7, must be last of the M Tec2
Alpina E34 B10 3.5
Alpina E28 B10 3.5 must be last of the E28
BMW E30 2.5ltr M convertible, must be the last built...full factory Mtec 2, full bubble leather. (200 built of this special one) Not really interested in convertibles only this one for nostalgia.
All manual......... + all must have full factory bodykit...prob won't get the E28 now under 25k.

Factory HP is the best engine selected with little or no ancilliaries, real world is nowhere close unless you strike a brilliant engine.Apparently Dyno Dynamics is on the conservative side so maybe a little more than the 18% mentioned above.
250hp is badass especially given its only on 6psi. As previously mentioned my 2002 M10 made 102hp on the same dyno, and was a factory "130hp" engine (in good condition and pretty low km).

My dream car, sore this for sale like 7 years ago, was $67,000 at the time
Reality is seldom as good as the dream Graham, might not be fast enough for you now after all the quick cars you owned.
-
Your losses with manual gearbox/drivetrain approx 18%, could be slightly more but you have to be realistic.
Be good to see your setup, the tuning is the hard part, takes TIME to do it properly.
300+HP@ flywheel or take the engine out and put it on a bench dyno.
-
I assume thats rear wheel HP, do you make your own ECU or did you just buy something.
Be pretty interesting how far you take the power output, i still like the Alpina B10 twin turbo with approx 360hp @ flywheel. How is driveability etc?
-
Ohk, how much would i find one of them for? havent quite got the funds to do something over 2gish.
im only 16 so still at school with no steady money soo yea
Maybe save some money for your future first, no money in cars dude.

Well guys I haven't managed to find a copy of this down here in Napier. Has anyone bought it and read the 540i/6 article? If it's good I'd be v keen to get hold of a copy.
If I could trouble an Auckland member to perhaps grab one for me I'll happily reimburse. Am passing through (very quickly) this weekend too.
Cheers
Si
Will shoot up the the road to my bookie & have a look Simon, haven't seen that copy around in Auck yet. They are well behind for BMW Car, if you ever need a place to crash in Auck let me know, you can stop in here.

Nothing impressive. Bone stock m60b40 through an auto. Just thought I'd throw this up for a comparison since I had the dyno chart handy.
In fake numbers it is:
158KW
300NM
Thats a TOP result running an auto.................this is my dyno chart.
Stock 4ltr V8 Vs 3.4ltr M30( custom fuel/timing map) ......20kw+ @ wheels.
-
They look good in the flesh, lose the new Alpina 20 spoke alloys. The BMW version is better with the 5 ltr M V8.
Not sure why Alpina tinkered with this one & removed the M engine for their 4.8ltr M62.
Spotted : Alpina C2
