i would love a manual one,but the msport seats arent that common on the e 39..even some of the 540 m sports dont have em,my experience any way
The 'M' NZ new 530's on Tradeyou have the Recaro style?Don't know about the 540's etc.
-
I like the NZ New E39 530i Motorsport......3 ltr straight six & all the M goodies......M Recaro seats a must.
Maybe not powerful enough for you??
edit:As long as the front & rear end is agreeable to your eyes, still looks wrong after all these years. (sorry E39 onrs but thats what i see)

Performance BMW is like fast fours, Total is more a enthusiast restoration publication that focuses more on older stuff.
Both are 50% advertising for businesses on the other side of the world and both lack serious content and both are overpriced.. Much of a muchness.
I prefer Performance BMW as it has a lot more in it and has better feature cars.
I agree, overpriced & not enough content..............saying that i still get TBMW & BMWCAR.

Silverdale Radiators on TradeYou have new BMW radiators for $279, go & buy a new one.
The cooling systen is top priority.
-
Welcome to Bimmersport, good to see another premium E34 M5! Bruce (Ashmill) in Whangarei has a NZ New like yours, top quality, the last of the handbuilt M cars.

Its all about recycled plastic and its all crap...only lasts for 5 or 6 years if you are lucky
I have mentioned this many times, you go to pull something apart to get to the faulty bits & all the crap plastic breaks around you.Garbage on an expensive car.
BMW (a supposed luxury car maker) hasn't mastered designing things that dont leak FLUIDS???
People, wake up & complain to the dealers, just because the engine is smooth/powerful you put up with it, the PC world has invaded!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
edit: which BMW to buy?? Might pay to get a Lexus.
edit (bravo): quote tags fixed.

National.................again, too many dickheads in Labour with the Greens hanging in there.
edit: Have always said National & Labour are natural coalition partners, centre right balanced by centre left.

Don't know if anyone is interested but i found the BMW Car Mag article on the super rare US E36 M3 Lightweight.Didn’t the US cars only have like 190 KW?
It was based on the US M3.............ONLY 125 LIGHTWEIGHTS WERE BUILT........................"At the end of the year the lightest & most powerful engines had been set aside for the lightweight project"
Engine was standard 240 bhp S50 B30 USA unit but hand picked...BMW M oil pan & dual-pickup oil pump.
I could scan & post if interested in this rare car.(current prices $40,000 for a good one)

Lift off centre cover & the valve is located on the centre hub, feeds air thru hollow wheel spoke, all Alpina's are 20 spoke, copies have 19.Nice wheels.
How does the said 'hidden valves' work?
-
Apparently (allegedly) they use a battery jig saw, cut open the bonnet in the right place, hook up their makeshift ecu to fire the car and piss off, stripped same day.
-
There are lots and lots of Supra's out there (not in NZ) with over 1000hp, not cheap to achieve though.
What i mean't was that the engine (bottom end) was good for 600hp.Like everything Graham, the ONLY consideration is financial.
-
Yeah, thats in the August issue, also the latest 3 series coupe but fitted with the M5 V10.A couple of them left at Borders on Lambton Quay in Wellington, reading it now
The twin supercharged M5 looks the f&*^*&ing nuts too !
-
arent they all LHD???
Thats the only downside Paul.
-
Good looking back in hindsight, basically DEVELOPMENT costs big money, toyota's development budget would have been a pittance compared to the E31 programme.
Those Supra engines are pretty good, someone said good for 600hp.

When i get my Bi-Turbo then you might see another article.
-
i think the write up was done on a guys car from the 540 i le( ie Cains car) site in Aussie
Yeah, think you are right because they only talk about Australian rare LE 540.
-
Thanks Boris
Very interested - will see where I can source the mag here
If you can't get it for some reason pm me & i will get it up here for you & post it to you.
-
IF YOU GUYS WANT TO SECURE SEPT MIGHT PAY TO ORDER NOW FROM YOUR LOCAL,(unless you have it flown out) BMW CAR MAGAZINE WILL HAVE A TEST ARTICLE ON YOUR CAR.......ONLY KNOW OF 3 ONRS, SIMON,CAIN & RAY.
That is if interested, otherwise i won't bother posting this nonsense.
Edit:August issue has the ultimate grudge match shootout.........THE ULTIMATE E34'S...............................................
ALPINA B10 Bi TURBO vs E34 M5 (3.8ltr)
Edit again: They should have included the 540is in the grudge match, would have been interesting!!!!!!!

Hi Bruce, hows things? Rugged, you know, tough old thing, like us old guys!!Hi Boris
What is a rugged engine?
Bruce
I think the old M engines were a bit more rugged & not as stressed.
Hows the race car going?
-
Why look at the car if it's done high k's & the price isn't cheap? How about an E34 M5, NZ new 1990, 3.6ltr, rugged engine, $18,000.(full history)
With rgds in general if you have a look at any local Evo M3's, the 3.2 has been known to spin
big end bearing shells,Vanos systems can rattle when cold (if still there when warm, problem) & leaky or noisy water pumps are also common & can be expensive.
I reckon it's all down to the treatment & servicing, seen too many guys hop into their M3 & thrash it when cold etc, some people have no idea.
-
[quote name='westy' post='198232'
Price on the car seems to be under $15000.
Has the top end been rebuilt?
-
so about 43000 nz!!???
[/quote
Don't know what they would charge here.
