  1. You are putting approx 230hp down at the wheels, 172kw x 1.34 = 230hp.That is pretty good, other 3.0 M3 owners would be similar over a small range + or -

If you guess ( & that is all you can do) 20% max drivetrain losses, 20% + 230hp = 276 hp @ flywheel.

Factory claim 286hp don't they, so that is within range.(morerevsm3 in Aussie started with 170kw on roller dyno)

  2. The Sport Evo was called Evo 3, this last series was built with 2.5ltr engines. (238bhp@ 7000rpm)

Never seen one of these for sale anywhere.(600 units)

    The ULTIMATE M3!!!!!

Will post later if i have time an Evo 3 article, all about the extensive mods. (that right drive doesn't count anymore)

  3. mine started with 170rwkw stock except high flow metal cats, then with alloy flywheel, free flowing muffler, 8000 rpm alpha n chip, and carbon plenum got me to 200rwkw on dyno dynamics, aftermarket cams would net more as well

the M3R was the most powerful production M3, it is 3 litre rated at 240kw...

There is your answer, someone who has done it with a whopping 30kw@ wheels increase.......save up for a carbon intake system & go for full custom remap.

  4. Whats been said is basically correct, there was a GT version of the M3 which BMW built & it only had another 9bhp?

To get more power you need more air in the engine(the hard part), more revs. Fuelling is the easy bit.

Even if you dropped 100kg you would only lower your 0-100k time by a few 10ths of a second, why bother?

edit out 100ths, should be 10ths

  5. That's a sweet rebuild. What sort of numbers would you expect from the rebuilt motor. I've been humping along with plans for some low supercharged boost, but this looks like more fun, and I have a feeling it will go a fair bit harder than a 2.7 and can always boost it later.

I agree, looks alot better than a 2.7. I would say with full mapping you should be around 220-225 hp @ flywheel??
