One pic for now
That's a HARD hit! Wonder what speed would do that??
-
Don't forget guys, all modern cars use crappy recyclable plastics. They go hard and brittle with age.
They also run the engine temp hotter for emmisions/fuel economy so cooling system is under a lot more pressure.

I think from memory my stock M30 accepted 6-7 deg advance(top end rpm) running BP 98. We bolted on a knock sensor to monitor, anyway thats what we did.
Here is Alpina Aust with their real world dyno results. People, you will be astounded at how little some older( & newer) cars are putting down to the rear wheels!
-
If i recall we added about 25 deg more advance before it started pinking (on 98)
Better throttle response - bit more power. Worth doing really.

Someone BUY IT.
I just bought another house so crap someone else better do it.
Real Estate makes money, cars don't. Buy the house!

Looks superb in red.

the timing chain tensioners may be different, and if they go they can destroy head, pistons and valve train even the bores.
Apparently though a "proper one." has very good torque at lower revs and amazing power above 4500.We are talking 250 kw!.
What is the situation with these cars.Could you bring it in now and theoretically register and use when 20 yrs old???Or wait till 20 yrs old and bring one then???
[/quote
You would have wait 20yrs i think before import. Gerry in the car club is on the LTSA commitee looking in to all this.

Sorry I was assuming that you would be using it on the track only, and then assuming that you could get insurance for only using it on the track.
Nah thats o.k.I am only an average driver and still can't handle the M30 power properly!
I wouldn't race a good car like that on the track.
They reckon the 3.8 is not very rugged compared to the 3.6, anyone know why???
-
But if you were bringing it for yourself why would you worry about what its worth or what to sell it for ?
If you can't register it, you can't insure it, what happens if you run into another car on the road.
You want a good car that you can sell/trade if you want etc.
-
Very nice car.
Check out the cars on Pistonheads, good reviews/news etc.
-
That is business!!!!
There is no stopping you brining it into NZ!!
Just registering it.
Which if you REALLY wanted it, you could get around
Yeah but my Soprano days are behind me.(nickname Paulie) Makes it difficult to sell/value etc.

Nice low miles E34 M5, pity you can't bring in what you like anymore!

How about a B10 4,6
Killer punch E34, one of the best cars Alpina developed.
B10 4.6 is not the same as above turbo in case some people don't know Alpina history. Sorry for confusion.

I loved the Fiat Coupe. But perhaps he was better in a smaller, 'Acquired taste' operation rather than a big, conservative player like BMW. Either way, his designs have still sold. And I think the Z4 M Coupe is the horniest looking car this side of $150,000.
Yeah i remember when they released the Fiat coupe, BMW snapped him up immediately.I think when you look back in another 10yrs alot of his FASHION ideas will look stupid,
I agree with you on the Z4,looks good.
-
yes the 6 k is a special mates rate...I love the 535 on the open road,i would love to try it in the speed(and the roads) it was designed for which i think on our cars is 140-180.the slightly lower gearing would make it a weapon even in 5th!
Yeah would be good doing high speed Autobahn runs. Once you have the weighty E34 on the move 3rd hits the limiter with ease and 4th pulls pulls strongly till red line, strong torque above 2500 gives a good punch.
-
Its way too ugly to be the new E30.
BMW stopped making their best looking cars after 1991.
Head of design Bangle must go! Maybe he was a merc plant????
-
but none of you have said what you think a fair price is!
235 000 kms as SI said NZ new, sports seats(electric)LSD,Mtech suspension,"climate control,cd player in boot, completely stock....one of the so called 535is or HD12 series cars. The only thing mine doesnt have that the others do is the ski bag option.
Sorry for delay,a branch broke of a tree out the front yesterday and took out the phone line(and the window!)
Hard to pin down price, most guys upgrade to E34 540i.I think Ray paid 16-17 for his 540is, low k's etc, still a fantastic set of wheels.
I think your 6k guess would be a low mates rate price but who knows??
Get a few opinions or just test the market and see how many nibbles you get.
Still a great high speed tourer, when BMW designed the E34 shell they paid special attention to using large panels rather than tacking smaller sections together.
-
alright then....what do people think a nice 535 is is worth....mine for example.Interior would be one of the best i have seen, mileage is about 235,000,but i service it religiuosly, recently had new radiator and front control arms.
I am seriously considering selling...I dont think anything lower than six...
some pics here other pics will be found on BS.
Creaver if this car comes up, buy it. You can't go wrong buying a well looked after car.
-
Fantastic engine/mechanicals etc but the clothes it wears?
If you look at most new BMW's they seem to all have sharp intersecting lines (headlights etc), slightly distorted kidney grille, the STYLE mode/theme encompasses different themes from front to back.
Looks like there'll be a V8 M3 motor for sale soon !!!

Would they ship the whole car back to Germany???
