What are some good Japanese importing sites?
Keen on spreadsheet, will PM you my email,
Thanks alot,
Nick
Pistonheads in the U.K. has a good range to look at.Might be easier to buy a N.Z. car here??
-

Did you take it for pre-purchase inspection? NEVER buy anything without one.
Take it to Velocity where Brent said for assessment.
-
I was close to buying that car before I found the CSi.
The red looks awesome, and the black leather is nice too. Can't go wrong with M-Par's!
I just couldn't live with a 4 speed auto though!
Did you drive it Brad?? Just wonder what they actually feel like on the road, yeah, those M Par do look fantastic.
-
a freind of mine owns that car . not bad cond , he has spent a bit to tidy it up . just got some more bits from me to make it complete .
synter did the work in the UK .
the car yard is selling on behalf , and they put the price on it , not my freind
Brent, can you get your friend to call me, would like to know a bit of its history & talk to him about it.

how do you quantify such things.....
nice e34 535is manual say 6-7k??
nice e34 540 six speed 12 14??
nice e34 m5...seems to be 20 25??....
where do you fit a alpina into that....
as to the gearing, didnt BMW do exactly the same for the 535is and the 3.6 M5 and again for the 3.8M5???
whadaya reckon with those figures?
Those prices are probably right. I would have thought the Alpina B10 sat at around 12? maybe a tweak more.
Market always decides, i would buy at the right price.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C....htm?key=735518
spotted this on trademe looks nice and very rare
A mate was down that way and spotted it, his overall impression closeup was 'needed work to bring it up from scruffy'
I think it's way too expensive for a B-10, U.K. prices are pretty low for this one. They also changed the diff to get the thing moving off the line a bit quicker.
What do you guys reckon it's worth??

Have you seen the Korman website Glenn? They fiddle around with M20/M30 engines etc, their worked carb 3.5 delivers 250hp, doesn't sound high but they say it's reliable. Have a look if interested.
-
Thats very cool
for a cool car.

If you look at your dyno sheet - it may say SAE corrected. This means it is a flywheel horsepower.
Had a look on the net Andrew, when they say corrected that refers to a standard that takes into account temp, air density etc, so the dyno reading is corrected for all those variables.
If anyone is interested in dyno's this site has an easy explanation between HUB DYNO VS ROLLER DYNO.

Going GREEN, a load of P.C. nonsense, along with Global warming!

will consider most .with not too higher millage .
prefer black with black leather .
or maybe e34 m5 ..
maybe even a e34 535i 5spd or like (not too concernd with millage on the M30 engine)
$$$$ buyer .
Any interest in the red 535is on TradeMe Brent? Not leather tho, just a thought.Did you sell your Hartge engined 535i?

If you look at your dyno sheet - it may say SAE corrected. This means it is a flywheel horsepower.
yes, does say correction method: SAE other sheet with 136.1kw says correction method: DIN
whatever that means.
Must take to Gavin when have time, he said with the wheels on his roller dyno he would expect 8-10kw less, depending on the day.
-
well since we are talking Flywheel figures its mainly speculation....
as for the Turbo, I would put drivetrain loss around 15-20% max...25% is generally accepted for 4WD cars.
so 180kw ATW x 1.2 = 216
and in HP = 289
plus for weight...having weighed my old M325i with bucket seats in, + full body kit + a heavier engine @ 1180kg, I cant imagine the turbo being heavier than that. So maybe more around the 245 hp tonne mark?
Andy, please correct maths if the 180kW is incorrect, did Gavin not get that after tuning?
Just another footnote on the subject of bragging rights.(yeah, i know my car doesn't have enough pwr for you guys)
Possible Flywheel Pwr?
Car developed 186.31HP, +15% = 214 @ Flywheel? 186.31HP + 20% = 223 @ Flywheel?
This is the figures from Dynapack hub dyno.

Nice! True history in those cars, didn't Enzo name the car after his late son all those years ago?
-
me too..interesting point on E30 have always thought E30 was a mini me E34.....had one at home the other day, wife and daughter both said that the E30 looked boxy and old compared to my 535is...
Yes, E30 does look older & boxy. It lacks rake in front/rear screens and body curves need filling out (E34). E30 M3 shell looks good, rear rake improved and blister guards.
Classic BMW : E30 & E34, plus the fabulous C pillar return, all proportions excellent for their time.
-
Not to sure, if head bolt pattern conforms, should be ok, maybe down pipe flange mod needed.
Let me know when you have some, thanks.

As stated earlier on this forum I will have RHD stubbies, OEM mount and long tube, all tig and 304 stainless in about a month.
Will have units for all beamers, E30,36,46, E39, Z3 and Z4 318 also, price around $500.
E34 535i?

You are probably right on the M5, mileage conversion equates. You could be right, but I do think it is rather odd that 105kms or whatever it has advertised equates to around 166kms.
It will be interesting to find out as the cars are identical in appearance.
By the way, was you 535is once owned by Craig Ross? I was going to buy it once, but he got in there first. At the time I ended up getting a Sth African spec 535is, similar to Brent has.
Your car is very tidy.
Yes, purchased it from him. He spent a bit on it after he got it because the head gasket went, he gave up and purchased an E39 540i.(lucky you didn't buy it, what price back then?)
I have spent a small fortune on it fixing neglected/postponed issues, but it is going o.k. at the moment.
People don't fix things as they arise, in the end you have 20 issues, rolling road tuned now, very strong mid punch- i mean really enhances the engine strength, which is mid torque.
I have always liked the E34 since my first in the late 80's, a classic shape without stupid FASHION ideas! All the body creases are in the same place as an E30.

I suspect is is the same one that has been lurking around on trademe and classic car for the last few months for around $24k. It was the same colour and interior and in Chch. Maybe that the owner has sold it to a dealer or the dealer is selling it on consigment.
Great looking car. There are one or 2 red ones that live in Auckland. Superb.
Don't think so, the other one was listed with 165,000km????
