Here is a strange thing went up to the Paeroa street races on the weekend and another light came on that is the orange engine with the straight piece at the back of the engine. This went off on the return home now today the seat belt air bag one has also gone off.I really like this car as its a dream to drive and meets my requirements and more. Its just this bit with the warning lights. now they are off should I continue with the dealer or wait for them to come on again?

Cripes that seems like an on going problem. Has anyone else had this problem? I have a boney ass the seat might not know the difference between that and a knee.

Does anyone have a e21 left rear glass. Someone with the brains of a pea and delights in smashing things just broke the window of this car and another along side. hope they got there kicks from it. Don't we live in a violent society now that p/c has invaded us?
-
Ok thanks also does anybody have a handbook for one of these?

Ive just purchased a 2000 year 50000kms e46 and drove it home then when drove it the next day the light on the dash which has a person with seatbelt and I presume a airbag in front has come on Any suggestions as to what has triggered it everything else works OK.

Thanks for all the help I did use the copper pipe it was a thick walled piece so was ok for the job you were correct in saying that the tension needed to be watched. It was way more than the old ones that we took out. two of us carried out the operation.one in the boot as recommended and the other giving a hand from the outside. But all good now. Thanks again

It does seem funny and to boot I'm just over 6 foot so my legs will hang over the side of the boot But thanks for the up date on the copper pipe I will try it and if that fails will try to get some sprinkler pipe from work. I have visions of this being a tricky job as the springs are for the m tech 2 spoiler they are stronger than the present ones, and are needed for the heavier spoiler.
-
Hey thanks for that It sounds reasonably straight forward. I like the pipe idea I have a small copper pipe so will try that Thanks again

Has anyone taken the boot springs of an e30 fitted new ones? is there a knack in doing this or an easy way?

Try this it may help. take the idle control valve off and get a can of throttle body cleaner spray it into the inlet and outlet holes, use plenty and keep this up till you can rock the body back and forward and you can hear a crisp action from inside and clean fluid comes out of the holes.then replace the the hoses from the throttle body to the idle valve and from the valve back to the intake. The problem is that the breather hose from the cam cover takes the dirty oil and returns it to the throttle body. vortexes forward to the idle valve pickup and the dirty oil causes the idle valve to become sticky and not function properly giving the fluctuation in idle. My theory, I,m not perfect but it worked on mine. Hope it helps you.

Maybe the larger the wheel and the lower the car is, is the fashion. I think that is referred to as eye candy, But two things come to mind 1 legally you are only allowed to go up 2 sizes from standard. e36 comes with 15's I think. so 17s are your limit. 2 suspension setups from factory (and one would think that the BMW engineers would have a fair idea what they are doing) are best. unless you intend to race the car or give it a better handling situation then you would be advised to seek professional help and that I would think would require certification to show that what has been done has improved the set up to make the car safer on the road.God forbid that the springs are just cut to lower the car and larger wheels are put on to make it trendy with current fashion. cutting the guard or the lining inside them would not be a good idea. and if the car was set up properly that would not be needed. My advise would be to get professional help and that would not be a mag wheel seller that has advised you to put on 18's.he is mis leading you.

The car is an e30 1990 not sure about the model cd player but it is all lit up and on the face the revolving lights are all working not sure if it will play a cd so will try that. But it won't get any stations.

the car is a e34 1991 twin cam model 525. the interior light in the push button switch for the rear window heater is not working. the action on the window is OK but just the light is out.Is there a small bulb that can be replaced or is this a major job for a small result.?

here are the roller rockers he made they have titanium shafts in the adjustable cam end. The wearblocks are made from 4340 which has been carbonitrided and the rockers are made from alloy tool plate. I'm having trouble getting the two photos from the cd to upload I think the files might be to big. Not being a computer wiz can someone tell me how to reduce the size so I can upload it for you. it will be worth it I think you will find Ken The brother has now joined up to this forum under the name bmwolf a new member have a look at the head. He has put it on his page and it has the rockers on it.

He will to talk to anyone about the making of bits if you want his name is Wayne Morine 078230263 or email morine@xtra.co.nz He is sending me photos of the adjustable alloy rollers and will post them as so as I get them

Yes I believe that the maps are on throttle position. He also made a alloy flywheel port and polished the head himself. I have got some more photos on the suspension if you want. You would be surprised how he gets things as good as this in just a small garage.I'm sure he would be happy to talk to anyone about this. might even consider making something for you if he was asked.

He's a fitter and turner by trade. he is building this car up at home in a small garage. he has built up engines before so has a fair idea how to do the job and get the most out of the build.I know that the engine was started from scratch he has polished the crank and it was balanced then it was nitrated then polished again before assembly the pistons are high comp which came in the car as standard.Apparently BMW sometimes put these into certain engines. The engine is fully balanced and he has made up special rockers from alloy and put inserts into them for hard wearing. It has a schrick cam the throttle bodies are from the states as is the ecu and loom .They came as one package. the inlet manifolds he makes himself they are of stainless and he cut groves into them for "O" rings to do away with gaskets the brakes are from the states the booster is from a e28 I think and maybe the brake cylinder but not sure on that. I'm pretty sure it is 3/4 in bore size though. He has built the suspension himself and that is fully adjustable. he has also fitted an e30 gear linkage with a shortshift from Earnst at bavarian motors not sure about anything else but if you ask I can find out for you. here is a picture of the suspension on the right side. Looks like wilwood caliper I think.

My brother is building up a 323 for racing and the targa I though i would put these pictures up that he has sent me. I might be a bit biased but i thought they looked pretty good.

Does anyone have a motorsport steering wheel for an e30 the last one on the 325 with the large centerer and similar to the e36 one? And anyone got two DTM mirrors they want to sell (electric)
-
If you want to take a trip up to palmy some time I'll set them for you no charge.

Mike you were correct in saying that the balls were directional and that was really important if they had been put in and not facing the right way they would have been damaged very quickly and been rendered useless in a very short time.It is also worth noting that the reaction bushes (the rubber ones) also need to be put in the correct way.
-
My car also ticks on start up when cold just the one tappet though but it stops when the car warms up. It does sound like two faults. And any mechanic worth his salt would have picked the hydraulic tappet I would have thought.I second the above suggestions find someone who knows, its a lot cheaper in the long run.

Well what do you know the rubber bushings have got cracks in them so they are to be replaced to Ive got the local garage to press them off and the rubber bushings also and he can press the new ones on.I have thought about shouting myself a "press" but have not had the need for one when the garage does it for me at no cost, but still have to wait in line for them.I could have had it done by now, not to hard a job and could be fitting them on the car today.
