  1. I have to replace one light on the car 89 e30 318 Rh outer. First question will the smiley faced one fit? and where is the best price to be got?I was gong 2nd hand but I wonder if they are all getting a bit old now .
  2. I have a F/L e30 318 and the wof man says it would be wise to fit new brake lines as the present ones are on the way out.No problem with that but I was thinking stainless to replace.I know extra cost but longer lasting and better feel I'm told.Is this correct? also the car has 16 in Schnitzer rims and was wondering if I had a bracket made and moved the calipers out and put larger discs on if that would be good bang for bucks? And can someone here put me onto a stainless supplier that is good value or who has some secondhand ones they are wanting to sell?
  3. It's not the colour so much that I was looking at but the clearer vision at night that I was trying to achieve. Your car does appear to have that over my e30 ones. And and after reading the piece on BP's BMW e30 318is site where he said the his conversion was way and advanced over normal lighting.
  4. I take it that the glass when using a HID should be just that and it should not have any deflection properties is that right? Is it that the bulb in a retro fit is not sitting in the same position or am I still on the wrong track and the hid bulb has a different light emission causing this scatter that is being talked about? And back to my first need is it a waist of time fitting HID's or worth the effort and expense?
  5. Thank you for that info will try to find the information you have recommended in the "search section" the items on Trade Me the seller claims is legal is he not being truthful?.And how does one go about getting projectors for a e30?
  6. I have fitted one of those and can not see any differance between that and the oem part.
  7. i have been told that this is the best way to improve lights can someone please explain the talk used in selling these and what are the pitfalls. what is meant by colour temperature the bulb size or fitting e.g H7. and the 6000 10000 12000. I see them for sale on trade me new at around $140 here in NZ could someone tell me if they would be an improvement on my e30 which lights do they fit onto, dip or high beam.
  8. thankyou very much for that offer but I have now got another nz radio
  9. thanks I'll go into d*ck Smiths and have a look
  10. Jochen I don't know much about the devise you are sujesting When you say 1ooo songs do you have to buy a card with songs on them or do you have to record some first then use them on the player?
  11. that's good to know but I'm in Palmerston north do you know anyone here? and is this not a do it yourself problem?
  12. I have a problem with the radio in the car saying that there are no C/D's in the player in the boot, but its full and I have taken the cartridge out and put it back in and tried to rearrange the C/D's but it still comes up the same can someone help with a lead in to this problem?
  13. thank you Glenn The chassis no is bu88618 I Have been advised by a mechanic that under very dusty conditions these can block up giving some various fuel problems and making the car not run well, You may remember that My son in Abu Dhabi has some with his 540 so I'm getting him a new one to change and see if that fixes his problem. I understand that a blocked one won't show up on a fault code reading. This is a long going problem and we are trying to eliminate things that are not too expensive and cover all the suspect things ourselves as the help from the dealer over there is very poor. I remember that you said that if he paid your fair over there you would fix it for him and as nice as that offer was we would like to try some simple things first.thanks ken
  14. Can someone tell me where the 1998 540 carbon canister is situated? is this an easy fix to change the canister and fit a new one ? and does someone have a diagram of the area?
  15. Were you able to use the same engine mounts off the m40 block? to get the m42 mounted ( they should be the same and it should fit up to the transmission)Its the head that's different, am I correct? and the sump, but I'm told that the m40 sump fits up and gets rid of the 36 sump problem which has the bump at the other end.Do you have to get another sump oil uptake to fit the m40 sump? the electrical side is interesting as the loom from the e36 has the ECU on the left hand side in the engine bay where as the e30 has the ECU in the car on the drivers side how will you overcome this?Do you think that it would be better to take the wiring for the ECU out of the loom and run the wires, albeit they are a bit long in through the e30 firewall hole and fit the ECU in the original place or are you going to stay with the e30 m42 loom that Ray has sold you and change the fuse box plugs? Did the e30 m42 ECU go into the car at the passengers side and fit into the glove box? There is a lot of advise about people who have done this conversion but I have not been able to find them, maybe you know of someone. Keep me posted I'm very interested to see how you get on As I'm trying the same thing, have the engine but not fitted yet.
  16. Thanks It came off as said. Is this a problem part the car has just done 62000 Ks I would have thought that BMW would have made things to last longer. they used to have a good reliability record.
  17. I have a 2000 e46 318 m43 engine it appears that the radiator header tank has split and I have removed the top and bottom hose and the clip at the bottom it can be wiggled but it is not coming free. there appears to be an attachment at the top on the right , I have taken the torx screw out but it still won't come free what have I missed or does it need a firm lift to get it out . I'm waiting for a reply to this if anyone can please help soon, its getting dark and I'm scared of the dark. Ken
  18. I have already got the new replacement rubbers from the dealer and need the steel ribs as mine don't have the rib.Yes someone has replaced them with a plastic type aftermarket, I Have found that the oem ones are better as they don't make as much noise which i find very distracting. So I'm after the steel ribs.
  19. has anyone got the stainless support that goes into the blade of the wipers for an e30 FL? someone has replaced them with aftermarket ones and I want to fit oem ones again but need the stainless inner for them.
  20. how is it all going now? have you fixed the problem and are there some pictures? really interested
  21. thanks for that can you be more specific he says there is more than one green and at the moment we would like to exchange the back heated rear window relay (which we have been told is the same type) with the fuel pump one to quickly see if that is the problem. hope you can help thanks
  22. Brent could you take a photo of where it is and could you tell me where the heated rear window relay is. I have been told that they are the same and if we swap these over it may get rid of this annoying intermittent fault that is on my sons car. he has the car in Abu dhabi and has had all the fault codes read and it has not showing up with a fault. so we are on our own as to locarting it. so any help you can give will be gladly accepted. Also aside from that do you have a oem radio with nz frequencies for a e36 1998? to go into a jap import ?
  23. Jochen I have never tried to buy from ebay. would it not be a more expensive way than trying to get one here somewhere. also would there be a language problem on german ebay?
