You better hurry up Andy, with only 2 cars entered so far for the first meet, and mine to come I might just get a podium?
-
Hey Andy, if I got the glovebox and a key would I be able to come and pinch your race car for a burn? Brrrrmmmmmm

Have a talk to Grant Scheuber at George Stock and Co, 09 2707214, they're the Koni importers and may do you a good deal, they're doing the E30 cars, worth trying.
-
I just use a chain block on one of the beams in the garage, under a $100, works fine, used it to lift an E30 off a trailer last week, makes 4 now sitting around the shed, 3 go, 1 shell for parts if needed.
-
Thanks Jock, got them last week, on the car now, fully compliant ready to go. Cheers.

Don't forget the manual driveshaft, can be a bugger to source. The getrag 240 box is correct, but make sure it's for the M40, as the M10 box doesn't fit.

When bleeding the system, make sure the car is up to operating temp, so as the thermostat is open, and yes if you have an air block you will get a rapid overheating of the engine as the water isn't there to cool it, been there myself. Another way to check is to look in the radiator with the engine running, being very careful, and you should see movement in the water level, without any bubbling or chucking, this shows that the water is flowing. With my E30, I ended up having to put the garden hose up the small bottom return hose and forced water thru to get rid of my air block. If you don't have overheating after 10 or 15 mins of running I would doubt you had a blockage.

Both saying the same thing, take the cat out and put in a resonator or freeflow, your preference. Gus is just getting you to spend more cash!

If they are going into a track car, you could give Colin Briscoe a try at BMW NZ, BMW do have a policy of supplying direct for race cars at a very good rate, as they are for the series cars. Couldn't hurt trying anyway I guess.
-
Pre f/l, so no good even for a racer, but like they say, each to his own, poor bugger.
-
Yes, they are street legal, as for cost, I don't know, but would be sure they are still very cheap compared to the rest.
-
They're the race tyre, Toyo R888's 205/50/15's.
-
As above, flashcards is the best place to go, very reliable.
-
HB Graeme, thanks for all the bits, should put your name on the racer as No1 supplier. Cheers, and have a good one.
-
Good ay, been using it for a month now, best mapping on the net.
-
Any further info on this yet? Cheers.

Yeah Martyyn, often play the same game, got caught once tho with a really low reserve and no other bids, got a bargain tho, price you pay for games I guess.
-
If no bids, easiest way is to do what you suggested, wack up reserve and buynow to whatever and let it run. That way it costs you nothing.
-
That's a good deal, $45 cheaper than subscribing direct to mag in UK.
-
Maybe, but check this thread, and if needed, take out the glovebox and see if you can see anything in behind it on the firewall. http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index.php?showtopic=7122

Hi Gus, E30 cars are running toyo R888's 205/50/15's, cheapest you can get apparently, none in the country at the moment, apart from the ones on my car. Hope to have my car at Puke on the 25th, will let you know what they're like then. Still have some carpet locks if you need.

Thanks Andy, I found it easiest to take the gearbox off, and take the motor out the top. Torx bolts on the box aren't too bad, the top ones are hardest to get at, but if you put a trolley jack under the back of the box and lift it a few inches it swings the motor foward a bit and makes the bolts easier. Don't forget to unbolt the torque converter first, remove the rubber boots on the front of the box and using a screwdriver lever the ring gear around till the bolts are accessible thru the front hatch. There are 3 of these, and once out it's just a matter of either removing it right away, or propping the front and taking the motor out. Also don't forget the cable from box to throttle. With the radiator out there's lots of room, just make sure that all your pipes etc are undone, and it should lift out, nothing else needs to come off. Good luck. I did my first in and out in a day, so it can't be too hard.

What E30 Andy, 318, 320 or 325?
