    My E36 318 TI

It's not manual. But it's still a very "busy" car to drive. I drive in sport mode round town and only drop into top gear over 100kph on the open road. It pulls real hard....will crank up real quick to 120kph. Thats y I went for the 3:91 diff instead of the 328 3:64. The original compact diff was 4:44

    Help

I need to get hold off Darren, he was advertising LSD's in the old forum. I've lost his phone numbers and the thread is missing in our new room. If Darren reads this could he call me please on 2722546. Cheers Glenn
  11. Well I finally got round to it (thanks to Andy for the diff) For those who dont know my ride is a '97 E36 Mtech 318 TI which I've fitted an M52 2.8 litre and 5 speed auto. The car runs great now with the new diff, still got sh*t loads of grunt, but the gearchanges are more pleasant. The ECM gives smoother changes from load signals from the air mass sensor and driveshaft speed sensor being more in line with the 328I the units came out of. The '97 E36 328I ran a 3.64 ratio. It wasn't straight forward though. The half shafts on an E30 are longer and the bolt holes and configurations are different, so I had to swap the shafts over, which involved removing and inner dust slinger and retaining the outer. Regroove circlip grooves and I fitted new E36 side seals. I also swapped the speedo sensor, the pins are different. Economy will probably be better as well now, cause I don't have to fang it to get smooth changes. No more 12345 its 1.....2.....3....4....5 Cheers Glenn
  12. Sorry, dont know that one. Be careful tho... Check the boot out for a suitcase :rambo:

  16. Hi there Brent....is the 97 Z3 diff a small casing ???? if so, what ratio is it ???.... I'm after a 3.91 small casing diff for my 318TI (2.8L)
  17. I'm interested in the 3.91 diff if its still available. Gotta be small case though. Cheers Glenn

On the E36, take the restrictor out of the air horn too and just use the flat panel K&N Cheers Glenn
  22. sh*t !! I'm havin a blonde week....sorry for wasting peoples time with this one.Yes the case is a small one
  23. I tried 4 different six cylinder dash's in the car, including the 328 dash, and they wont work in my car(pin configuration is different and I lost other functions). I have spoken to my instrument tech and he said he probably can modify the tacho signal. The 318 tacho runs @ 2,000 k and the 328 runs @ 4,000 k,its a software thing not the instrument. So therefore I'm not 100% sure of the revs. At 100kph the tacho reads 4,000rpm, at idle it's reading 950 rpm, so I'm only guessing that its 50% of what it is showing at 100kph. The car is very, VERY quick of the mark but changes up very quickly, far to quickly unless you are fanging it. The diff ratio in the car I took the motor and box out of (E36 328 Coupe) had a 364 in it and mines a 444, but the case was larger/different so I couldn't change it over. Thanks for the info Kerry, but a E36 Sedan/Coupe diff is different to a E36 Compact. The casings are different. I can get plenty of those, but dont know if the crown wheel and pinions will swap over. That's why I'm asking the questions. If they will fit in my casing, I only need to change over the crown wheel & pinion to get what I'm looking for. My ETK does not tell me bearing or shaft measurements, nor does TIS. I was hoping someone in the group might have done this before, could save me some time & trouble if I could speak to someone who has done this. Cheers Glenn
  24. Who's gotta 364 ??? Include a price. Doesn't need ta be LSD...will do that later. 100 kph in 5th lockup is 2000rpm Cheers Glenn
