  1. A number of us in the industry have come accross this problem on mainly older cars, but do include E36 & E39 I also understand that it is a problem with Rover/BMW powered vehicles as well. Stray current caused by electrical components and additional wiring ie: wiring looms for amps may cause damage to the aluminium radiators in these vehicles. Radiator cores are insulated ( no earthed ) by the plastic end tanks. When installing new or even with existing radiators, it is prudent to fit an earth strap buy means of a speed clip and screw to the aluminium bracket on the top of the radiator to the earth pole on the L/H inner guard and only use BMW Coolant. We can supply this coolant for $15 per 1.5 litre bottle, incl GST. We are doing this on every radiator replacement. Cheers Glenn

    My E36 318 TI

I purchased the 318 TI Mtech for $2500...the doner 328I coupe for $4000 It took us 4 days to do the original conversion, using alot of new parts....every thing to do will cooling system is brand new. The car owes me approx $13,000 now not including labour. Read the whole thread...I'm sure I've explained it all... was easy to do...you could probably do it cheaper cause y'rs is already a 6 cylinder and my costs include tyres, brakes, diff, exhaust, rear suspension and the "cert". I'd also like to add that it's certified at 75mm, because its all done properly. "Safety must come first" Getting back to your question tho....I'd say about $6,000 to $8,000 depending on where you get the motor & box from and if you do it yourself. 2 people @ 4 days in a workshop costs $$$$$$ and it will costs more if you use engine/gearbox after 1997, due to canbus systems. Both the cars I used were 1997. The engine & gearbox systems are split from body systems, ABS & SRS. And thankyou for the comments Come and have a look on the 16th Cheers Glenn
  4. If you guys are prepared to wait 1 more week, which makes the function 16th June. I can get the first and only one of its kind in NZ 335 I Motor Sport Coupe in red on black It'll be absolutely brand new on the day and the first one to arrive in NZ Hope this will suit everybody... I am also trying to negotiate an M6 as well from a customer Cheers Glenn BMW NZ are going to confirm this by email next week...its still on the boat but gets here first week of June
  5. I have spoken to Kevin @ Auto Trans..our transmission specialist (09) 3092538 He said that he has not done that, if pin configeration is wrong, transmission is probably slightly different. Did the "mechanics" check valve body porting before changing valve bodies ??? The porting is likely to be different. This would need to be rechecked...if its different you'll need to do a correct trans swap or fix the old one. Cheers Glenn
  6. Glenn here Yes we can supply a cable...however it needs checking first...it may not be the cable. People sometimes drop the gearbox down when working on the car without releasing the cable from the bracket on the gearbox, this bends it and makes it stiff. Could also be something else tho Cheers Glenn
  7. Possibly is a tyre & yes a tyre shop can confirm this...get the tyres checked first Y'r auto shift cable is probably bent or worn internally
  8. Get an owners manual.....about $30
  9. Thanks Will... but that wont work....cant swap the 318 TI axles into it. Circlip and seal positions are wrong and TI's run smaller CV joints on the axles. You can swap them around in E30's because the flange spacings and bolt sizes are the same. 318 TI's are different.....we tried today
  10. Try tightening the 13mm arm nut with the wipers in the parked position
  11. Was it a new or 2nd hand starter ????? these do give problems
  12. Come on guys......someone must have one ??
  13. The correct oil is a full synthetic 75W90....LSD oil is fine in an open diff As for the noise........it probably is the diff..... pinion bearings ??? Drive it on a hoist and listen with a stethiscope... check axle bearings too...the same way
  14. Ring Keith @ H&R Ph. 021378902 He can give you springs to suit the ride height you want. Real good guy & knows his stuff....did my car for me If you get 2nd hand Bilsteins, Chris @ Suspension tech can reco them & mod them to suit for you. He did my rears...shortened the bodies & shafts Ph. (09)2731232 or 0272145325 Cheers Glenn

  18. Sadly, its a sign of the times that we now live with in NZ When I was younger, we had discipline @ home Discipline @ school This taught self discipline & respect Respect for others, and the respect for others property Now, we have neither AND OUR GOVT IS REDUCING THE AMOUNT OF DISCIPLINE THAT CAN BE GIVEN @ HOME & SCHOOL ???? Where the hell are we going ??? PS .. There are a hell of alot of really good young people out there.....but unfortunately we are breeding more idiots Just my 2cents worth
