Try European Auto Spares Ph. (09) 2623752 SD European 0800269772 Mosen Spares in Hamilton or go new about $100 from memory Cheers Glenn PS. Its called an induction hose, airflow meter to throttle body. Give them chassis number too, there are variations on these or take the hose off and send them a better picture.

There is alot you need to do...I've done that with a 318 TI Compact. Check the threads out in "Rides" and its not cheap. Its best to buy a damaged 323 or 328 as a donor car and swap it all over. I bought a stolen & vandalised 328 I coupe as a donor. Try to get the same year built without ASC. Costs heaps more to do using engine/gearbox after 1997. Or just go and buy a 328I manual coupe. It will need to be certified too, over 20% increase in HP needs a cert. Getting back to your question....the motor will not fit the 318 gearbox and yes both ECU's and loom will need changing. Brakes and suspension are a "must do" as well and the diff ratio will be wrong.....the list goes on. Cheers Glenn

Check out the new thread under "MEETINGS" Cheers Glenn

You wont hear a thing...with the problem you have, I'm sure its that. You will need to remove it to confirm it, it could be blocked, seized or electrically faulty. Then again it may not be getting power supply from dash hot / cold switch
-
The heater tap is between the matrix and the pipes coming out of the fire wall , on the cabin side. Its electronic and it may not be working. You may be getting hot water in, but if it doesnt open you have now flow which = no heat. You need to check if this is working or not. It should open and close via the dash control. Hope this helps Glenn
-
Did you flow test the matrix ?? Check heater tap ?? Check hoses for aluminium plugs to stop hot water flow....we have found these on many imports out of hot countries Cheers Glenn

I only suggested Repco... cause I thought he might want to do it today.. not sure if they are open down there tho

The motor/gearbox I used didn't have ASC.. so it was easy. ASC is programmed into DME,EGS & ABS and works via Canbus. If you dont have an ASC switch on the dash, I dont think its possible to reprogramme. Can check tomorrow... however I think your stuck with it. By the way ASC is there for a reason "Safety" "Play safe" Glenn

You are probably right. Repco does carry new thermostats for some BMW's.. give them a try. Make sure you fit it properly, because if you have a plastic housing, you can crack it. Its not hard to do once you have the viscous coupling off ( 32mm & L/H thread ) Genuine are about $80....Repco about $40 "Play safe" Glenn

Cost me $100 each to have the Bilsteins shortened and set up. The Simota CAI cost me $175. The dealer info is on another thread. I dont have their details hear at home. "Play safe" Glenn QUOTE: i lowered mine 80 mil at the back on 19z on standard shocks an mite be droping the car more ......more ????? You might be at your limit

Turn the alarm off for your clock on your check control....I gather this is an E36

A number of us in the industry have come accross this problem on mainly older cars, but do include E36 & E39 I also understand that it is a problem with Rover/BMW powered vehicles as well. Stray current caused by electrical components and additional wiring ie: wiring looms for amps may cause damage to the aluminium radiators in these vehicles. Radiator cores are insulated ( no earthed ) by the plastic end tanks. When installing new or even with existing radiators, it is prudent to fit an earth strap buy means of a speed clip and screw to the aluminium bracket on the top of the radiator to the earth pole on the L/H inner guard and only use BMW Coolant. We can supply this coolant for $15 per 1.5 litre bottle, incl GST. We are doing this on every radiator replacement. Cheers Glenn

I was just thinking (it hurt too)....if you dyed your hair and tried again.... would that help ????

I purchased the 318 TI Mtech for $2500...the doner 328I coupe for $4000 It took us 4 days to do the original conversion, using alot of new parts....every thing to do will cooling system is brand new. The car owes me approx $13,000 now not including labour. Read the whole thread...I'm sure I've explained it all... was easy to do...you could probably do it cheaper cause y'rs is already a 6 cylinder and my costs include tyres, brakes, diff, exhaust, rear suspension and the "cert". I'd also like to add that it's certified at 75mm, because its all done properly. "Safety must come first" Getting back to your question tho....I'd say about $6,000 to $8,000 depending on where you get the motor & box from and if you do it yourself. 2 people @ 4 days in a workshop costs $$$$$$ and it will costs more if you use engine/gearbox after 1997, due to canbus systems. Both the cars I used were 1997. The engine & gearbox systems are split from body systems, ABS & SRS. And thankyou for the comments Come and have a look on the 16th Cheers Glenn

I have spoken to Kevin @ Auto Trans..our transmission specialist (09) 3092538 He said that he has not done that, if pin configeration is wrong, transmission is probably slightly different. Did the "mechanics" check valve body porting before changing valve bodies ??? The porting is likely to be different. This would need to be rechecked...if its different you'll need to do a correct trans swap or fix the old one. Cheers Glenn

Glenn here Yes we can supply a cable...however it needs checking first...it may not be the cable. People sometimes drop the gearbox down when working on the car without releasing the cable from the bracket on the gearbox, this bends it and makes it stiff. Could also be something else tho Cheers Glenn
-
Possibly is a tyre & yes a tyre shop can confirm this...get the tyres checked first Y'r auto shift cable is probably bent or worn internally
