Hi Guys ive being doing abit of research for my e28 project and there are alot of options out there. all i can say is find someone that can fabricate the manifolds etc for you as a perky and someone who will get you trade price parts with abit on top for them, we can dream cant we lolz its all about engine really, depending on what you are going to use depends on what can be done ive seen lots of posts about m20 turbo's not many on m30's tho but over all by what i noticed Stand alone ECU is the way to go and the turbo etc is really upto your budget constraints, ive done quotes from 5k-15k for a turbo setup on my m30 engine depending on what you get done. any one that has a old skool bmw turbo'd without a new engine i give them cred and anyone really that works on bmw's give them cred like my current engine who knows whats up with it just stoped given me power but hay its my project itl get built in time, the train and bus is fine with me at the mo

Hay bro dont know much bout clutches, but i reakon have a talk with topcat about what he got done for his car cause his car seemed to have a pretty mint clutch and im going to have to get a new one soon once i start putting mods on my car

Yea i think your right its abit over the top but thats why im not going to fawk out that hopefully my friend when i get my turbo will be able to do custom exhaust extractors, intake and down piping for just materials and abit of cash on top, hopefully i can get the turbo or ecu in the next few months...

I agree with the rest of them a Single Turbo is the best bet alot less cash and modification, and if you can someone that will do the piping cheap cause ive being quoted around $1000 for piping off the turbo to the exhaust

Hi Guys ive being ready up and was just wanting your guys advise on the sort of ecu to look for it will be going on a stock 86 528i m30b28 engine is it worth getting one on the stock engine before i do any upgrading so that it works ok, or do you guys reakon waiting to all the performance parts are on the engine and doing it i have being quoted about 3k tunned and installed so i dont really know what do you guys reakon i have seen a new ecu that you dont need to have a distributor for cause it has a direct fire system from a add on to the ecu

Hay bro i think the pretty much all the same central locking systems if you want a good place to check, check out www.realoem.com and you can use the vin or just search for the car that site has helped me out heaps in regards to parts but im pretty sure its a simple swap from one the the other shouldnt be any trouble Cheers kym

Hi Guys im sick of the garage looking like a mess - i have a old wreaked 525e pretty much all parts no engine but lots of parts of the engine as being working on my other e28 at the same time, soon take the auto out of my e28 send me a pm if you need any pieces and ill let you know also i good wreakers down in paraparumu is - wreak king found heaps of bmw's lying round there and cheap parts persay Cheers

Hi Guys i have a m30b28 engine in my bmw and was wanting to know if its me worth switching the head with something bigger if possible and what would be involved in doing so. cause im just about to take the head off due to the car not working and in the long run im prob looking at a turbo or supercharger so any help would be apperciated Cheers Kym and im still waiting on my rest of my parts for my conversion which ill post once done

Yea you got it right, the thing being is that the e34 driveshaft is fatter than my old e28 driveshaft, so i dont know if they would be able to put it on my e28 driveshaft. am i not able to use a e28 front driveshaft or would they have diffrent couplings cheers

Hi Guys ive just brought myself a conversion kit and the one thing i am missing is the front drive shaft for the conversion i got a front drive shaft sent with the box off a e34 535, but my current car is a e28 528i is it best bet to just buy new e28 front drive shaft cause the two i have for the current car which had a auto and neither have a big enough mount to put on the gearbox any help would be apprecitated cheers

hay bro ive had nothing but issues with my central locking on my e28 my back left door doesnt allways unlock and it used to be intermittant - especially when battery is low i replaced some of my wiring which did help, and i mean being real cheap for like 40 buks or something just buy a dick smith central locking kit, which would do the job but a real BMW has character as yours seems to have like mine

Hay bro i got a e28 and its the automatic kickdown switch, which isnt used on all auto's that are in the cars, you either have that switch as your kickdown or one on the throttle body for a mechanical kickdown if you are going to play with it if your auto is electronically control dont forget if i remember right you have to adjust two bolts to hold it in place, but both easyish to get at

Hay guys i got a 528i which now has a vaccum master cylinder and shortend brake lines - this in far has improved my braking from the old hydraulic brakes that were previously installed, was a cheapfix for my car borrowed the flaring tool to do it too and havnt been happier well could be if the car wasnt so heavy

Hi losing reverse was the first sign when two of my auto transmission were just about gone, is the car slipping at all when changing gears? or have power loss in first gear as that was the next to go on mine. just putting in my two cents, i found it cheaper to replace with a second hand gearbox only cost me around $350 from a wreakers but have seen them cheaper unless you dont mind paying for professional to check it out

Thanks for that i will try source one from somewhere, took to mechanic and said no vaccum leaks but doesnt mean he actually checked fuel pressure regulator found that has exhaust Leak coming from rear of engine will get this check out today, cuase by the ammount of smoke that comes out is concering Would this cause the kinda powerloss cause as of yesterday afternoon when the weather is warm and car is warm seems to have got power back but this morning same thing no power at all but can feel engine winding up and power going no were

My 1986 528i E28 has no power and takes ages to get to 100kmh. I have changed fuel regulator, filters etc.Recently installed pod filter.Could it be Fuel Pump? as this is only thing I haven't tried. Also anyone know how to pressure test fuel system or someone in Levin/Otaki district who is good on these older cars

Hay most of the time i think but i pulled out all the distributor and never marked where it was sposed to sit so i need to know how to time it manual so i can get the distriputor in the right place. and i dont have the fancy tool or the monie to get a pro to plug it into a bmw service tool to confirm the timming

Hay guys ive been playing with my 87 528i over the last few months and now ive finally got the engine to turn over it took awhile but now i need to get the timming down so i dont blow the damn thing up does any one how to time these cars if you cant get it started, also does anyone have a pic of the distrubutor cap with the leads numbered on it cause i copied how my old ones where on but it doesnt look right Cheers
