    Really off topic

There was a Tesco's (UK supermarket) plastic shopping bag on ebay that sold for 4 quid !Of course it was all in the papers and on the news, so the buyer put it up again and it then made 20 quid Cheers Martyn
  2. Because there are exemptions for foreign nationals importing cars for less than 12 months. No conspiracies Im afraid

  5. Thats interesting because when I got my Subaru GT-b wagon WOF'd they were going to fail it because it has two sets of lights on the front.Turns out your only allowed to have one set on at anytime and they only passed it once I showed them there was a switch to flick between the two, but that you couldnt get both on at the same time. Turns out I have little lights in the side corners too that come on when your lights are on and you indicate to turn, they point slightly outwards to show around the corner ! Cheers Martyn
  6. Pretty much everyone in Holland drives with their lights on day and night, regardless of the time of year. They even flashed me when I didnt have them on. Its always welcome when people have their lights on when Im driving INTO the sun, its just the fog lights on permanently when there is no viibility problem that gets on my tits. Can someone please explain to an old codger what a 'rice-boy', I have a pretty good idea, just not heard the term 'rice' before thats all.
  7. E32's don't comply with the frontal impact rules regardless of weather they have airbags or not. Same for E30's and E34's. Your both correct, thats why I couldnt bring my E32 750iL over last year.I dont know when those regulations came into effect and whether or not this car was imported before then. Generally speaking any BMW before 1996 doesnt comply and therefore cant be registered unless it can meet various regulations. Its not impossible to bring something in and register it you just have to know what your doing.
  8. Dunno, I was just going by some of the answers he had put on the trade me site.He has some interesting replies on there !
  9. Ive found the documents on the LTSA website regarding LHD importation. I think it says on the sellers questions that it was imported from Japan. You can register a LHD car as long as it fits the following conditions. 1. You are importing it for personal use. 2. You have registered and owned the car in its original country for more than 90 days. 3. The car is less than 3500kgs 4. The car is less than 20 years old. 5. The car must be registered in your name for at least 5 years after importation. 6. You can only import one LHD car in any 5 year period. Now if the guy who brought it over had followed all this it wouldve been pretty easy to register and it would be worth something. If he didnt know this and has let the chance of registering the car lapse then he should be :rambo: Interestingly Ive not been able to find anything that says the car can be registered once it hits 20 years old. Cheers Martyn
  10. That depends on whether they are driving lights or fog lights. There is nothing I hate more than people cruising along in broad daylight with their fcuking fog lights on. When the rains came a couple of weekends ago, it was ridiculous. There were people screaming down the motorway at totally unbelievable speeds, and when they really needed all their lights on they had none and couldnt be seen from 10 yards away ! [EDIT] Forgot the keep it on topic Mate keep the fogs, looks better with them in there.
  11. Were you guys all butchers in a previously life ? "strip it", "rip the wheels off", "transplant" This is quite possibly one of only 305 cars in the world. I cant believe you would so readily want to tear it to pieces. Each to their own I guess, but if it was another couple of years down the track I would be having it my garage I can tell you. Just come along at the wrong time for me
  12. I watched it last night after taping it the other day. All I can say is I wont be watching it again. It was woeful. I could write down everything I thought was a joke, but Ive got better things to do.
  13. Thats the E38 version. I have two friends in England with one of those.
  14. Its an E32 750 that has been shipped off to Alpina to have a few things done to it.As the ad says, 350bhp from the 5 litre V12 (my stock V12 had 300), Alpina exhaust, suspension, wheels, leather interior, etc etc. They are seriously sought after in the UK and there are a lot of people making fakes to try and cash in. I can understand why some people arent sure about it, Im not all that keen on alot of threes but you can see more pictures here.... Alpina B12
  15. Nah I'd just sit in it on the back of a truck and have them drive me around the streets !
  16. Is there anything that says it cant be run on the track ?
  17. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...on-22626946.htm Can someone please explain the rules on LHD cars in NZ, Im about to check out the LTSA website etc and will talk to people tomorrow. But I am seriously considering selling my car to buy this one. Im dubious about the 'wait for 20 years' bit, but is it true it really cant be registered to drive on NZ roads ! If so what a disgrace. How cana car like this not be allowed on the roads, this is stunning.
  18. Grant (and all the mods of the site for that matter), Please dont take my posts as any sort of criticism. I have nothing but respect for what you guys do. I would just like to have an open discussion on something I feel quite strongly about. What I was trying to achieve in my posts was to get people to think about what they get out of this forum and hopefully make them aware that it does take alot of time and money to run. With that in mind, making a voluntary payment (being whatever people can afford - I remember living on 25 dollars a week as a student) for me would be a simple jesture to show my appreciation. I respect that there are people who would be willing to turn the discussion into a meaningless ramble, but a blanket ban on such subjects may also deter people from speaking up with valid viewpoints and suggestions. Like I said you guys make the decisions and Im happy to abide by them. Ive paid my money and would like to think others will do the same. PS. I wholeheartedly agree on not making the site a 'pay-only' site. The guys I were with in the UK have just done that and its torn the members to pieces. Several of the 'major' players have refused to pay and the site as a whole has suffered greatly to the point where questions are being asked as to whether it will continue. Cheers Martyn
  19. a discussion in here without the thread being locked ? Have I got it right that this section if called 'off topic' where 'anything goes' ? Can someone please explain to me why two threads which have very slighty scratched the surface regarding a membership have been locked with no explaination ? I can totally understand if the topic has been thrashed to death, but Ive been around a year now and Ive not seen anything about it other than Andrew's sticky telling everyone they can make a voluntary deposit. To the Admin, I respect your decisions on how you want to run this, but how are we supposed to drum up support if we cant talk about these issues ? Whats so bad about suggesting to members that they put their hands in their pockets to help out a little ? Cheers Martyn
  20. If this is what I think it is, its a program from the UK where this guy buys a car that usually needs a bit of work done to it, gets his mechanic mate to do the work and then tries to sell it for a profit. Usually over two programs but well worth a look. The main guy is pretty funny in the other progams he's on. Cheers Sparkle, I shall definately be watching.
  21. What you get for your 25 notes is a forum to discuss and learn. Why do you need to see a gallery, stickers, or t-shirts or something else to think you are getting value for money ? Ive paid my 25 dollars and expect nothing in return other than the site to be up when Im ready for my bimmer fix. Its not going to break the bank is it, geez I spend more on a few pints, a kebab and a boogie on a Friday night :pimp: Dont get me wrong, I would hate to have to pay for what is nothing more than a forum when there are so many free ones around the world. But the funding doesnt come from advertising, so get your hands in your pockets and send Andrew some money. I wonder what the fee would be if everyone paid up ?
  22. As the other thread has been locked already I thought Id start another one. Set yourself up on here CarDomain Registration Page, stick your photos up and a little write up on what youve done if you think your Shakespeare. Then post a message in the Rides section with a link to your page. Perhaps we could even have a sticky in the Rides where everyone can post a link to their page.
  23. Shoe polish my friend. Now seriously, Im not talking about slapping it on like you might have done your old school shoes, but a good quality polish with a decent cloth will do wonders. Only use enough to actually colour the leather that has cracked, dont put so much on that you end up with it rubbing off on your clothes. Before and after you can try the liquid leather stuff Ive said about before. Have a search on the web cant remember the URL right now, Ive used it as have plenty of mates and it works wonders. Patience is the key though, if your prepared to spend the time on it you can save yourself plenty of cash. If money is no object then I can thoroughly recommend European Leathercare in Wellington. They took care of the mould on my interior and the seats are superb.
  24. Jochen,Any chance you can help me out with either a manual or wiring diagram for this.... Previous post Cheers Martyn
