In the UK you can change your phone pretty much every nine months, the cost of the handset is heavily subsidised by the maker so if you have the balls you can phone them up and insist on an upgrade on a regular basis. Because of this in the last six years Ive had a nokia 5510, 3310, 3330, 6210, 6230, and an 8210, a panasonic GD87, and sony T610, T630 and now I have a K700i In my opinion the nokia's have very well thoughout menus, the panasonic had the bets camera, but each of the SE's Ive had kick all the others all over the park. Nokia just have too many phones each with a compromise that I wasnt prepared to make. Ive never gone into the symbian side of things as my priority has always been to have a small phone that can sync with outlook and get/send email. I have bluetooth on my laptop so thats always a must aswell. The only phone Ive had any trouble with is the Nokia 3330, our son (18 months) likes to play with it and dribbled all over the keyboard. We had it fixed 4 months ago but its just locked up again so in the bin it goes. Its all opinion of course but I would recommend the SE phones to anyone but then my priorities may not be yours and the phone may not do what you need it to do. mp3 ringtones on the k700i are excellent as is the tennis game ;-) Cheers Martyn

Can I give a couple of recommendations for your leather ?Firstly to get rid of the discolouration in the cracks use some black shoe polish. Put a little on a cloth and gentle rub it in. You only want to use enough to change the colour of the cracked leather not leave enough on there to rub off onto your clothes ! Secondly (and this stuff is the dogs bollox) get yourself some of this.... http://www.liquidleather.com/ They will send to NZ and I used it on my 750 in England and although the seats werent quite like yours they came out looking fantastic after several sessions with this stuff. Get the cleaner and the conditioner. The cleaner will amaze you. Even seats that look clean will show just how dirty they are with this, and when you get to the conditioner, dont use a cloth, put some rubber gloves on and just massage it in with your hands. The smell once you have finished is amazing and you will enjoy that for along time. Bear in mind that seats in that condition may take several applications of both, my 750 took three monthly efforts, and give your self plenty of time on it and they will come up brilliantly. I brought some of this stuff over, but there is nothing you can offer me to make me part with it.....its that good. Cheers Martyn

I dont think you'd be forced to get a genuine BMW exhaust you just wouldnt be able to get one 6 inches wide that makes a badass pwning of bmw honda sound like a roaring jumbo jet. Its not worth jumping to too many conclusions. Im interested to hear about the emissions test though. Is there not one in NZ currently ?

Guys, I would be quite happy to scan it and host it somewhere but I dont have a scanner ! Its also half the magazine so I dont know if someone else wants to give it a go. Im happy to hang on to it until Cilk gets back as I was looking out for it for him in the first place. He can then decide what he wants to do with it. Cheers Martyn

Cilk, I sent you a PM last week mate about the E30 special in TBMW. It arrived in my local shop the other day so I bought it anyway. If you still want it give me a shout and Ill send it up. Otherwise if anyone else wants it for their collection please form an orderly queue. Cheers Martyn

My two keys have chips/transmitters in them that synchronise with the ignition when I start the car each time.My understanding is that even if I were to get a key cut, without the transmitter in the key the car wont start because it knows the key isnt the original. Thankfully I have two of them so lets hope I dont forget to replace the batteries before they go flat ! Cheers Martyn

Id be very interested to hear what youve got available for a 96 e38 :-)Especially the clear fronts/sides and rears. Cheers Martyn

Im 99% percent certain its not powerhaus. The autopoint place is right around the back of powerhaus I think. I wouldnt recommend anyone go to them (powerhaus). Jon is a thief who will promise you the earth, fail to deliver, rob you blind and then run away blaming everyone else should they damage your car. You can probably guess Ive had bad experiences of them too ! God I need a drink...been at work since 8.30 this morning  Cheers Martyn

Mate, taking photos of a crash scene is not what life's about. I have no doubt you were only thinking of the 'voyierism' factor and it was all pretty innocent but I have a good friend who has a VERY close friend who's parents were killed on state highway 1 a couple of months ago and he watched it on the tv without knowing who was down there and what had happened. Just my two pence. Cheers Martyn

I can recommend Brent Fon at Motor Units.....he's just spent a couple of weeks sorting a phone car kit for me and even placated my wishes to have it installed in my ash tray so its all hidden away. Did the work a couple of weeks ago and has so far refused all my attempts to give him money because he hasnt yet found a way of muting the stereo with it (he can mute it from the control box but not when the phone rings...odd) Anyway cant remember the name of the road but its off Tory street at the Courtenay Place end and his number is 384 5303 Cheers Martyn

401....lets the side down with 75% accuracy on the third one :-( Cheers Martyn

Thanks Guys, I thoguht they would tell you more than the online check....cant tell you why I thought that but just expected that it would be able to confirm a few things about the car. Oh well, Ive seen the photos now and it looks genuine. So I shall have to go and take a look Cheers Martyn

Along the same theme as the bar one, Try this, its great with sound but its a little quiet so turn it up. Its well worth it in the end. http://megi.kabel1.cz/swf/britney.swf Cheers Martyn

Yeah mate done that, but I want more details than just the engine type etc.I want to check out whether or not the car is a genuine motorsport, Ive not seen it yet but its for a friend and I think the etk/tis discs can tell you everything about a car once you have the VIN. Cheers Martyn
-
Can someone who has the etk/tis discs check out a vin number for me please. A mate is looking at buying a car and Id like to check out a few details about it. PM me for the details.....if some kind sole wishes to ahem provide a copy of them for me I would be very greatful and obviously reinburse any production costs involved. Cheers Martyn

I saw one in Wellington the other week, the number plate was PAINTR or something similar, and it was full of ladders and paint cans obviously ! Fabulous looking car under all the muck and grime though and it would certainly be my wagon of choice, especially as it had the throwing stars on. Have to stick with the GT-B wagon for now though ;-) Cheers Martyn

I had Barry Mansfield do a whole heap on mine too and I cant say I was that impressed. They said it would be four days but leave it a week to be sure. Didnt hear from them on the Friday so I phoned them at 4pm and they said it was almost ready but that I had to be there by 4.30 otherwise they would shut up shop. Get there to find they hadnt finished at all and that they wanted it back the next week too. Again it took twice as long as they quoted and this time they left marks in the car where they were supposed to have repaired a small dent, was like someone had rolled a pizza cutter along the panel. Took it back a third time to find the paint on the boot hadnt settled at all well, the sparkles in the paint looked all blotchy, but I was so annoyed at having to go back and never being called about the progress that I just told him I wasnt happy and that I wouldnt be bringing back as he'd had enough efforts at it. To be honest you have to have almost xray vision to see the problem on the boot but then we all have that when we look at our own cars dont we. Oh and the shutlines were shocking, whoever put the masking tape on did a crap job, I spent the weekend cleaning them up :-( Just goes to show you can get a bad experience no matter who recommends you.

and here's the star that is removable....
-
A two piece wheel usually has the 'front' surface as detachable and a three piece wheel I think has the front coming off then the outer rim can be removed from the inner rim and spokes....if you see what I mean. E34 M5 'throwing stars' look like this when taken apart....
-
My local rag place usually has the magazines from last month.....Cilk....drop me a PM if you want me to check them out. Cheers Martyn

PM sent....cheers Sparkle

You cant go wrong with a Remus system mate. A friend of mine fitted one to his B11 Alpina in England and apart from the noise sounding absolutely gorgeous the increase in power was very noticable. Top quality kit and very sought after amongst the E32 boys in England.

Mate, your going to pick up some intergalactic radio stations with all those aerials ;-) Love the style 42 wheels, and the car looks excellent in black. Any more photos ? Whats the inside like ? How many toys ?....all that jazz.

Its aspen silver mate and the sunlight helps bring out the silver and lavender speckles in the paint :gay: The difference on paper was minimal, but in real life the 750 felt much much quicker. To be fair the 750 was an e32 and the 740 is an e38, the 750 only had another 11 bhp or something but it was the mid range that really made the difference. From a standstill the 740 is a little quicker due to a slighty different gearing but once you hit 50mph kiss goodbye to the v12. The 740 still flies but the v12 just goes into orbit and its all so effortless. Thats perhaps the biggest difference Ive noticed is the noise. The 740 really does roar but the v12 sounds like its doing nothing up until 4k revs and then there is an almighty roar right up to 6k by which stage you are seriously past the stage of an automatic ban ! As for weight I think the v12 has about 200kgs on the 740, especially as it was an iL, the rear doors are huge. Touring Europe is what these cars are made for. Before we came out we took the 740 to Amsterdam (wife parents life there) and even after 8 hours in the car with the two little kids you felt great on arrival. The roads are so good (apart from Belgium) that you just stick on the cruise, sit back and relax. I prefer to keep my money in NZ but as you say there is a real shortage of bits around here. Im really struggling to find anywhere other than the dealers for parts. Perhaps ebay will be my answer after all. Ive still got plenty of mates in the UK who can source stuff for me too and a mate of mine who had his 750 in totalBMW a few months ago runs his own parts company so he can usually get pieces for me too. Do many people on here source from Europe ? The german ebay is brilliant. As long as you can handle their victorian attitude to money (in that its only bank transfers they accept) you can get some brilliant bargains.
