Nah mate, just a standard e30 spoiler
-
Northland. I reckon I can get away with a tech1 rear wing, because it has a tech1 steering wheel and gear knob
-
And the good lord said 'let there be video!' Bugger, I cant embed the videos so it will have to be links instead....I havent edited these, Ive just dumped them from the camera onto my youtube account.

Some proper photos now to start this thread off. Spent the whole of last weekend with the interior out cleaning the carpets of all sorts of 'stuff' some of which Id never seen before. Shampoo'd the seats, got all the dog hair out of the rear shelf and headliner, cleaned the dash, centre console etc and fixed a few little things thanks to Ians magic garage of BMW bits and pieces. The exterior still needs a clean and the engine bay is filthy with sand covering everything. But so far Ive only had the TM photos, so hopefully these will show it a little better. I still cant believe how good it is to drive and I still cant believe how little I paid for it Tech1 rear wing is on the way (Im not convinced by the Alpina one), Im trying to find a spare 14' cap and an 'is' lip. I was thinking of what else I could do but in the end it only needs a couple of things to be back to standard so thats what Im going to do.

I think thats been there for a while. Im sure I saw it about 6 months ago.

I was just looking at this the other day (just before the software started playing around with the font sizes). I too had it on the +11 time settings but Ive just looked and its showing the time as being 6.29 (when its 7.29) so Ive just set it to +12 for Auckland etc. Fingers crossed its correct now.

Well done fella, there is no doubt this is a great buy.

I still stand by my original statement, without a letter from Sytner and the magic numbers stamped into the block its not an Alpina. There is little difference between the cars built in Germany and the Sytner 'converted' cars. Both versions were given a plaque with a build number and both are considered genuine Alpinas. However if you bought a 325 and went back to Sytner to get it converted later you got a different plaque without a build number. Proving 'alpina-ness' is bloody hard these days so you have to do your homework to be sure of what your buying. Believe me, if this was a genuine Alpina and you could prove it, who knows what people would be willing to pay for it. But without the proof its just a standard 325 touring.

About bloody time

Spoke to Ray this arvo and its all sorted

I say do it mate. You have all the equipment and know how so why not ? It would be an amazing project to watch

Sorry gang, the lack of vids is my fault. Laurence used my camera and Im just too busy with work at the moment to get them off the camera and onto here. Hopefully Ill get the chance on the weekend.

I dont like the standard rear spoiler and I have reservations about the Alpina spoiler, so does anyone have one of these for sale ? Id consider trading either the original or the Alpina one if that interests anyone.
-
It doesnt take a trainspotter to notice youve put up four photos of the wheels on your floor ![e] thats better....look good mate. BTW I hope to be round tomorrow for the bonnet
-
I think the rear needs to come up a touch
-
Although its unfortunate you been caught up in this how can someone not know they have been suspended from driving? Its your daughters friend you should be having a go at not the police who are just doing their job.

I know of one.....in Wellington too
-
Ive had it a couple of days now and since its been a cracking day in Wellington it was a chance to get the interior cleaned out. Owner with dogs who vomit down the sides of seats shouldnt be allowed to live Anyway the interior is still in pieces so I took the chance to stick the Alpina rear spoiler on....so what do people think ? Standard spoiler... Or Alpina spoiler. I think it really needs to be painted as well to have a proper idea of it and the corner nut is broken so I had to hold it down for the photo. Someone feel free to PS it silver.... It looks a lot better in person and I think it will look better once painted. Its a lot chunkier than the standard item, but I find the standard one a little 'weak' if you know what I mean. I love the tech1 spoiler though, so perhaps I should just look for one of those. Still looking for an 'is' front if anyone knows of one.....Or even an Alpina front

What makes him think its an Alpina ?
-
Shady, Please dont hijack threads, especially as yours was the first post in Quinns thread. Start you own topic and keep it simple.
-
It would really help if you filled in the details on the left <<<<<< to tell us where you are.
-
This was originally written by Frantic, but since I split the thread this is relevant here too.... If you have no luck with BMWarehouse, you can buy new pieces through SpeedNZ. I got a missing rear arch pod that I needed for my m-tech2 kit.. Expensive though. I think tow hook covers are like $30 each.

Nikasil was not just an American problem it was huge in the UK aswell. In fact there were issues anywhere that had a high level of sulphur in the petrol.
-
I wouldnt trust a build plaque either Mark, just have a look on ebay at how many people sell them ! Seriously guys, it couldnt be easier to copy an Alpina these days, so take nothing less than a signed letter from Sytner to confirm it from the chassis number. You should also see something stamped on the block, but I cant remember what it is off the top of my head.
-
I wouldnt get too excited just yet people. A rego can be easily changed to say its an Alpina when in fact it isnt and Id want to see more than just a steering wheel to convince me. There are far too many people in NZ claiming they have an Alpina when they are nothing more than standard cars.
