  1. Mine has already decided she wants to have the 318is and I havent even taken delivery of it yet !
  2. Its clearly an m60 with the 4l engine. The M62 which was a 4.4 started in 96 and the easiest way to tell is the M62 has the steptronic gearbox. The glass will be double glazed not bullet proof, although there are e38's with bullet proof glass.
  3. Had a pair of these too once ! Anyone have any they want to sell ?
  4. Addiction? I dont know what it is. This solves none of the problems Im left with after selling the touring, but I just couldnt resist. It needs a new bonnet, bootlid, plenty of paint work sorting out, a front lip, the interior is quite reasonable it just needs a good shampoo and clean, it has a small crack in the dash (as usual), the gear knob has the leather coming off, it has no aircon, no cruise, it has the original stereo and worst of all I wont be getting the whole family in it so if we go anywhere its in the wife's Focus. But after having 30 mins driving it I couldnt say no, it was great fun. Certainly not fast but its light as a feather. So whilst it needs some work, its all cosmetic, easily doable and when Im finished I should have a mint 318is. The price helped of course, but I wont be going into that
  5. Its had a couple of owners, not quite the 'three owner car' its claimed. But same family since 60k (last twelve years) so cant complain. Had oil service done every WOF and any work necessary done at Page European. No WOF fails ever in fact. Current spoiler will stay until I get the boot resprayed, someone has done a pitiful job on the left side of it. Plenty of 'hazing' around the body aswell to get taken care of. No sunroof does indeed mean I can fit As for the Alpinas, I dont regret selling them, I know they went to a good home. I dont expect this to be a keeper, just a clean up back to standard fitment, have some fun and sell on, kind of car. Lets see how it goes.
  6. Not interested in a replica, so does anyone have a genuine 'is' front lip? I had one but sold it along with the 325 a few years ago. But now I have an is it really should have a lip
  7. Pick it up on Tuesday hopefully. Needs a little tidying up and some bodywork, but after wondering what all the fuss was about and having taken it for a drive I just couldnt resist. Visit My Website I can get my Alpina rear spoiler out of the garage now Shame my 18' Alpinas will have to go back in
  8. Well done Johno, Borbet A's for the 80's win.
  9. Snobs !!! Ill just keep loving my genuine 18's
  10. For the sake of clarity it should be pointed out that two totally ridiculous posts by muppets.inc have been removed from this thread. Tricking your car into thinking its aibags are fine, when they are in fact faulty is not something we want to recommend...and I think Glenn's post sums it up perfectly.
  11. I dont have an e39 Glenn.....you must be confusing me with someone else
  12. They look a bit small to me, also dont look right with the BMW badge rather than the Alpina one. Sorry Im too much of a purist
  13. Im keen to learn more, usually build the sites from scratch myself and havent heard of Silverstripe but let me know.
  14. Im not convinced it would be worth it mate. Ive been watching wheels quite a bit recently and they are going for peantus. You might get 4-500 for them as they are and perhaps another couple of hundred once refurbished. I bought a set of standard 16' e39 wheels for $30 a few months ago. Sure they needed tyres but you cant argue complain for the price of a curry.
  15. The short and sweet answer is that for 8k you are only going to be looking at the very earliest of e39 528's with few if any toys. They will be high mileage cars and will more than likely to have already had one owner who couldnt afford the maintenance. The same goes for an e38. Only the very early cars are around that price (were talking the '96 models here), high miles and the potential for high maintenance bills. I dont doubt for one minute that you will be able to find something but you are going to have to be very careful, do your homework and get a full appraisal done before laying down any money. Good luck.
  16. Hmmmmm an e30 with an airbag warning light Fellas......both heicht and zacq joined on the same day, have only posted once and have the same ip addie. I dont see them being around for much longer. Muppet.

    E39 540ise

That one on TM has been for sale for over 12 months. In fact there have been a couple of TM for a LONG time simply because they dont have the airbags.
  19. Oooooooooh so much inspiration.....your a wicked man Mr Norty
  20. Yep, went this morning
  21. However buying a UHF aerial for $70 from d*ck Smith will give you freeview in HD Assuming you have a good site of your transmitter. Well worth it if you have an HD tv, the picture quality improvement over SD is phenominal.
